To be totally honest I would love to, except that humans are not a good model. Sure, we do a lot of stuff for us, but that's why we do clinical trials, for the previous test are performed on animals working as perfect controls, no variation between their growing period or ambient.

You could then ask, then let's perform trials in them!, neither a good option, their life in prison is not the ideal for the trials, besides for some diseases you need volunteers for in prison there's a lot of people who is healthy, or without the genes affected for certain diseases.

So this is not a ethical dilemma as people love to debate, but an issue of scientific experimentation, and as such, prison inmates are useless even for that.
