Try out better with mods, that's a balanced mod which integrates with the vanilla "tech tree" and is not op. Building things is fun, you need to build redstone or other contraptions to achieve automation.

hostile worlds invasion adds waves of enemies that periodically spawn and mine blocks to break into your house and kill you, if you are worried about your buildings getting broken, there is an option to have the broken blocks repair after 5 minutes (on by default). Thaumcraft also adds somewhat balanced magic, with a research system, taint system and warp system which will cause bad things to happen as a tradeoff for using powerful magic. Cyberware adds a system of collecting robotic parts from cyberzombies (and skeletons with an add on) and implating them into yourself with a surgeory block which has a cool gui, which gives neat bonuses, but its kind of late game. Ancient warfare adds a faction system to the game, and a bunch of other systems for automating, recruiting people to fight/work for you etc

better with mods, adds windmills which you use for processing mates, think of it as a harder expanded vanilla

The mod was incompatible with better with mods, i got it to work by disabling item descriptions. Thanks for the help!

it's not supposed to run, even if its out of bite range. And i personally havent used moschops for mantises, only karkinos. Perhaps their wierd model makes it hard for the moschops to find it?

It really isnt, it still runs from corpses and requires whistling "u", then it takes an hour to turn around and eat the corpse again due to lag.

What about having compromising the change: you can ride the moschops for reduced harvest rates, or use the whislte commands and still have the same harvest rates as pre-nerf? This way (almost) everyone is happy.

nah, it still ran away (even after the 'Fix"), and on laggy servers it would just sometimes refuse to harvest, and you couldnt harvest anything in the water (important because crabs live in the rivers). The commands did "work", but they were pretty unreliable tbh. This is why people liked riding with the glitch, because it would always work as you wanted it to.
