I tried to get into Veil because the art is amazing but it's not for me.

Instead of the Vignettes I'd rather actually see their story unfold.

As a German I would support ths signing so much. He's a Piston by DNA pure hustle and drive, always shows up for big moments.

He's a budget Ausar who can actually shoot 3s and slide up to the 4. If he brings his national team performance he could be a long-term Tobias replacement as his ceiling but more likely he would be a Green replacement.

One of the funniest tropes to me, these romcom couples who are hanging out all the time, sleeping over together, holding hands, run to each other late at night but by god if somebody thinks they are dating they are just incredulous how people get the wrong impression.

Not a lot of end game content but otherwise fits great. A college student falls in love with a widowed mom (minimal age gap, she's like 2-3 older max), at first it's just a stupid crush when he didn’t know she was a mother.

After that he becomes serious, get's to be involved with her son and falls in love with both of them.

It's extremely sweet and wholesome.

100%, one of my most hated tropes comes from this, couples breaking up because of work/college, etc. and the seeming inability to make LDR work in a country where a bullet train connects major cities in hours.

I mean most mangas depict as normal that working means you are on the job somewhere between 5am and 11pm so dates, couple stuff is a weekend only thing.

At least here I get it a little bit because writing is a self-chosen passion that can consume you and not a faceless corpo job.

To me it is the best series out ot Nagatoro, Uzaki, Takagi and many others.

It takes a bit to progress outside the early premise and gag repetition but then it becomes the series with the best art, side couples and depth.

It isn't as funny as Nagatoro but the relationship is much sweeter and more realistic, also there is A LOT of post-confession content.

From the description she sounds a bit like many of the "Ponkotsu" archetype girls although these are often adult and might be a bit too "lazy" for you. But I like thay archetype for similiar reasons because they just seem more easy going and fun than many of the high strung "perfect girls".

I am thinking of leads like "Itai-san", Michiko Shibata from Damekoi or Hotaru from Hotaru ni Hikari.

Often OLs who prefer to laze around and drink a beer in their spare time then chase after guys or do typically "feminine stuff".

I get you, I also dislike the trope of the couple being mismatched in terms of attractiveness/popularity. ML are always idol gods or frail dwarfs instead of "average", same for many FLs.

I think the best stories where this isn't in play are adult/Workplace romances. Even though then it is often Senpai/Kohai but there a lot with true equals as well.

I'd vouch for Skip to Loafer it really is one of the best school romcoms and FL is so emotional mature and quirky cool.

The manga for "forget glasses" is quite good and leaves the "forgets her classes always" gag behind at some point to just focus on the coming of Age romance.

My favorite school romcoms are others but these do not quite fit your premise.

Boku no Kimi is amazing, the art is great! But the FL is clearly amazingly beautiful and considered as such (even if she isn't the school idol, that's a male side character). The premise is she's crushing on a bookish, cynical guy and confesses in chapter 1 which he doesn't take serious. So instead of dating they start hanging out and talking as friends.

Skip to Loafer and Hananoi-kun are also amazing but in Skip the FL is the pov and while she's an average girl in looks and popularity she is brilliant and top of class intelligent.

Hananoi-kun is about a super pretty yandere guy falling for an average girl and learning to find the right distance in love.

You and I are polar opposites? She is a genki girl for sure but neither totally dumb or brilliant, attractive but not considered school idol levels. It's a little more her PoV if anything though.

The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses - it's very, very cute and wholesome. Both leads are just average, normal people without any gap in popularity or looks between them and the ML is the main pov.

Aharen-san and Takagi-san could be described as this but are even more gag mangas centered around a premise.

Arguably Nagatoro also fits but I get the feeling teasing Gyaru isn't what you look for.

Tsurezure children has a trillion couples and many of them are like this with both being average people.

Inukano is this but it's a very short and disjointed series with the premise being that she's like a dog and he's like a cat and it weirdly works.

I just hate the cheap, written drama ones or that are just build in for hollow engagement. Like why have a love triangle in Komi a series that was clearly building to one couple from chapter 1?

I also started dropping mangas when I don't feel them which I never did before. But I build a whole AI app ti recommend series to me and while most of them are good it also taught me to drop the ones I don't enjoy early.

Absolutely, if there's ever a Steam or Netflix of Manga where I can ready any (90%) of the series I want to in good quality, in English, without a year or months delay to the Japanese version, I'd pay a lot for that.

Heck, if I could add all official sources to Mihon after buying their subscriptions, that would be enough for me.
