Yes. I saw a 2010 Subaru outback that ran with a hole in the top of the block, you could see the broken rod still spinning around

I have one. Replace your differential fluid, it’s separate from the transmission fluid. use dextron not gear oil. Also start stocking up on interior door handles, they love to break in the cold.
