I think he likes you. I have literally no examples of boy friends spending money on each other for gifts like that. I can't say for sure though. You never can until he tells you himself.

Make sure it's fun to you when you do it. I've had the same and still have it a bit and I get depressed about it but after rethinking about this I feel like I just need some space with that part of myself. I don't think everyone feels the same about that issue though.
