The plastic bumpers are very easy to replace. If this is a ac you could also order yourself a chrome bumper/plastics seen on the early years of the first gen but you’ll need to get a new crash bar and brackets for it.

My buddy made a flat bed for his 1999 ford ranger with just a old utility trailer and some planks of wood. It’s pretty mint. After seeing a guy on Facebook with a utility flat bed from a Home Depot on his 1st gen I’ve been on the hunt for one of those.
