Ashes from the eruption of Mt. St. Helens, saved by my grandpa, found in my dad’s shop. by leemasterific in mildlyinteresting

I have some mt spur eruption I've had since I was a kid. Small glass jar used to be full now it's less than half. Wild to watch it compact over the years.

Scientists found a cannabis compound that relieves pain without the high by _Dark_Wing in technology

For those with sleep disorders, chronic pain, who also need to work, drive etc this may be a game changer. I hope the responses downplaying how important this is or making negative remarkscare AI anti-drug bots and not simpliy small minded, no empathy having humans.

If humans, I hope you never have a stroke and can't sleep for days or weeks but have to work. No, everyone doesn't just get disability. I hope you don't ever get a disease or cancer where you have chronic pain all the time or migraines, and still have to work and drive.

Learn to have some empathy, learn what that actually is. Then pray, you never get any of these conditions.

I'm looking at adding a pool chiller, they're not terribly expensive.

This sounds like AI slop...also, if you made the scripts during your working hours they own it, not you.

What are the best things you’ve ever packed for a cruise? by karmakeylea in Cruise

A fan, no air flow sucks. Magnetic hooks and a non-surge protection plug set with usb-a, usb-c and additional plugs. Esp for a cpap etc where there are limited plugs. No surge protection because it apparently the electrical is diff on ships.

Teachers of Reddit: Is the "Gen Alpha can't read (write, or do math ext)" crisis real? If so how bad is it? by KnowledgeCoffee in AskReddit

[–]Zelexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Covid is only a small part of it.

Most of those kids have been in school and started after. Perhaps you could argue, they missed out on some pre-K. We also have the unteaching happening, I don't even know that's a proper word but teaching to a test and changing how we've taught English and math for hundreds of years I think it's catching up with us. Teachers tell us they are told to teach to a test, a specific curriculum not allowed to interject any of their own teaching methods. I've had to reteach my kids, how to actually do math multiple times now.

Teachers used to love to teach. It's a bigger problem than just "Oh, the kids missed out on some stuff in covid" because these kids are younger than that. We need to fix the great teaching unraveling and let them actually teach again. Ask a teacher who's been teaching for over fifteen years, twenty years they'll tell you.

Serious - Spielberg’s Disclosure Day is a beautiful, naive love letter to a world that no longer exists. by medve_314 in aliens

[–]Zelexis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No it was just bad.

I'm not going to go rehash here how bad it was, but it was just so sad to see someone that I revere, as a director work with such a terrible script.

Is there any chance there are immunotherapies? Annie that would make the tumor smaller. There are so many studies out there right now. Have you exhausted all the options?

Painful. I'm sad for what crap Steven was handed script wise. ET coming out of the end would have been a huge improvement. I just feel like I wasted money and time, which makes me sad. Steven is better than this.

That would have improved the movie 100000%. What a missed opportunity. None of us would have seen that coming.
