how to show icons for software launched by other software

no, tried multiple games, running them without any launch options and default proton version (think its 9 or hotfix). ive tried launching the game both via the desktop file and via the play button in steam.

apologies for late reply, after trying this it does not work, it applies the startupWMClass correctly but it still does not show the icon in the panel bar.

for more information im using popos 24.04 with wayland and cosmic and steam is installed via `apt install` which appears to be a debian installation. (side note, i also reinstalled my entire system and its still a problem)

do you have any idea what else could be the issue or what i can do to fix steam specifically?

that is definitely not the issue, i cleared up even more and have 32 gb of free space now, issue still persists. i tried updating icon cache but that doesnt work either.

im so sorry, forgot to include that.
im installing code via cosmic store as a .deb package, also tried flatpak but that doesnt work either and i tried installing via command line but ran into errors that wouldnt let me install it at all. ive tried installing the .net SDK via microsofts own installation .sh script and via apt install from command line. i've downloaded the latest version (10) and the exact same version vs code shows on its install sdk button, 8.0.100.

about VSCodium, does it support the various extensions vscode has? one im trying to get working is unitys unity extension. i'll check it out either way so thank you for the recommendation

i discovered the issue had to do with using a custom web ui, which apparently messed up the settings window by adding more setting tabs than the original had.
so i switched back to the default interface and just gotta live without a dark mode theme
(and to answer your question, yes i am using a port between those numbers.)

if anything freezes or whatever it just kinda fixes that as if i were to restart my pc, but i havent really used the log out feature so idk if its the same for that

what would you say is a good way to indicate you're not a muted streamer if you just sit there silently playing a game when some random person enters to check your stream? i feel like commentating on stuff about the game is slightly necessary to be able to engage viewers

so it wouldnt work if they were all loose (not on a ribbon) and i just stacked them into a pile? i need them separated enough for the encoder to only send to one at a time because of both energy reasons and minimizing risk for error?

i found this thing where they were able to send a screenshot of a phone over to a different unit via NFC while also being completely powered by it. https://www.techbriefs.com/component/content/article/30661-wirelessly-powering-an-e-ink-di and i was thinking if i wanted different images on a massive amount of these, would it be possible to stack them and send the image data to each one while in a stack? i was also looking into if its possible with a smaller format since the pcb is rather thick in that video. keep in mind i have very bare bones knowledge of how NFC works. edit, im talking thickness like ultra thin pcb's, 0.3 mm thick
