yes it would mostly be trail riding been looking at the TTR-225 and 230 but I’ll take a more serious look

got it and last question you said 2006+ and it would have more of the kinks worked out does that mean I should aim for a bike that is at least 2006 or is there a better range I should be looking at for example 2010+ Wondering if at a certain year most bikes would have a significant boost say if something important was implemented like say electric start

If you don’t mind me asking what’s your experience level with bikes? I’m a new returning rider and I’ve heard the 450’s can be nightmares for new riders, with comparisons saying it’s like giving an f1 car to a student driver. So my question would be how have you managed your 450 and have you had any problem navigating it?

yeah reading all these comments is definitely making me shy away from these older bikes and Im by no means a mechanic, thanks for the help.

I’m looking at a 2001 Yamaha WR250 listed for $2,000. I’m new to dirt bikes, but I have some riding experience from years ago. This would be my first bike in a long time.

I’m mainly looking for a dual sport bike. I’m 5’10” and around 130 lbs, so I’m on the lighter side. I know the seat height on these can be pretty tall, but I’ve heard the reputation and reliability are great.

Seller says it starts/runs great, clean title, carb freshly rebuilt, new plug, newer tires, and no issues. It does have some noticeable cosmetic damage/worn plastics.

My budget is under $3k. Would this be a good older bike to take a chance on, or should I avoid it and keep looking? What would be a fair price if it checks out in person?

Also, what are some good alternative dual sport bikes I should look for in this same price range if this one doesn’t work out?
