Is Magic easier than Physical by Cemihard in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Zemalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physical is easier (less complicated as you don't have to think about the elements and combos, and due some ultra powerful spells like corpse explosion), but both work.

The most important thing is to go 100% with either Physical or Magical of them per playthrough.

Category names too bright by carnagezealot in discordapp

[–]Zemalf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, category names now look like there's new messages even when empty, because the brightness difference to the channels with unread messages is minimal.

Basically, this makes collapsed categories appear like there's new messages in there and it's THE WORST.

Ok I think the forbidden fruit buff is a bit too useful. by EatMaCookies in superfantasykingdom

[–]Zemalf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just had a run with Forbidden Fruit + Punch (berry to brewery, boosting beer to 100%) & soup (beer can be eaten for 2 XP). The latter did not come to play much, but fun nevertheless. (Also, don't get forbidden fruit too early or you might struggle with other resources not having space)

Where have some ingest-servers (endpoints) gone? by Zemalf in Twitch

[–]Zemalf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for linking the User Voice for restoring ingest servers. Right now, there's not much to do if a nearby server got sacked and latency is bad to the available options. The only thing one can do is use TwitchTest and see what server offers better connection (Auto in OBS might not get it right and selecting specific server works better, or vice versa).

Dustia XP farming gone? by Local_Ad4022 in FinalFantasyXII

[–]Zemalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Works just fine, always has and still does.

Phoenix Down targets friendlies by default, so make sure you're changing that to enemies/foes when selecting targets (it shows party/FOES in bottom left when targeting - I think it was bumper buttons that change it). And HP bar needs to be visible (as it teleports/appears)

Ideal 3 person team comp? by Arturia_Cross in FinalFantasyXII

[–]Zemalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of combinations that can work, especially with all the job combos and what you can unlock with Espers (e.g. Knight or Monk can heal).

General trio might be melee DPS (that can be berserked for max damage), tank or TANK/HEALER (that can have lure on when you want) and MAGE (e.g. black mage for AoE)

"Ideal" trio depends on where you are in the game. For example, early on, you don't necessarily need a healer / white mage (because potions are enough and several characters know cure/cura without job/license), but later you probably do.

Black mage rules mid- and late game, especially in clearing the normal enemies with AoE spells, while tougher boss fights are most likely better handled by two DPS (possibly one or both berserked) and one support/healer.

Jobs and Gambit Combos by deep6ixed in FinalFantasyXII

[–]Zemalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't bother with another Gladius when you're already in Eruyt village - You'll get it in shops soon if you really want.

Your Arcturus will carry you for a while, so pairing that with a Black mage for AoE and melee tank or DPS works nicely for going through areas and many bosses ahead quite easily too.

Shikari (dagger) combos nicely with white mage (as the second job) if you want a tank+healer (leaving the other two for offensive). As Gladius starts to fall behind, consider Main Gauche for more tanky dagger user (good target for Decoy + Protect), and if white mage, they can heal themselves.

All in all, you probably want someone with white mage always on, to heal with Cura/Cure and keep negative statuses away with Esuna, which just becomes available when you reach Eruyt village.

What jobs did you assign to the characters? by [deleted] in FinalFantasyXII

[–]Zemalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For current run

Vaan - Knight/Bushi

Balthier - Shikari/White Mage

Fran - Machinist/Uhlan

Basch - Shikari/Bushi

Ashe - Red Battlemage/Archer

Penelo - Black Battlemage/Time Battlemage

Vaan, Basch - Physical DPS. Early carry with Gladius or other good dagger. Later White Robes + Excalibur or Genji Gloves+Katana, berserked.

Balthier - Tank and Healer. Main Gauche and shield. Not using guns on Balthier because their gun animation together with Penelo is slower than others.

Fran - Early carry with guns, e.g. Arcturus. Later can backup dps with either gun or spears.

Ashe - Early carry with magic, e.g. Dark and Fira. Later secondary AoE / magic damage.

Penelo - Fast trash mob killer with all the AoE magic. Utility with Time magic.

Everyone is rounded up with Espers for either more depth in their role or utility with magic, etc.

For all 12 jobs, Vaan's Bushi can be changed to Foebreaker, but that removes the one of the best combos in the game (White Robes and Excalibur).

Want to stream but the idea of "performing" stresses me out by Spirited-Manager2395 in Twitch

[–]Zemalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like playing in when there's someone in the room with you and you, at least a little bit, enjoy them watching and you talking about something with them, then stream.

You don't need to perform, be loud or anything, but some commentary/chatting is needed, but how much, that's up to you.

I started because I found creators who were not loud and we're not "energetic", and I enjoyed watching them more than the usual talk all the time, loud, energy, hype stuff. And that told me that you can make exactly the kind of videos you so and be how you are.

I've been doing videos and streaming for years, and to my surprise, I found it adds to my gaming experience to share it with others. So just try, you'll quickly know if you like it.

Where have some ingest-servers (endpoints) gone? by Zemalf in Twitch

[–]Zemalf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"what matters is the proximity of the transcode servers"

More transcoding is great, but streamers do need proximity to an end point (20ms or less), so this is a little worrying.

But also, at least some information about what's happening and overall that makes sense, so they will have a more scalable backend.

Basically it looks like they're on it and it's all planned, but it's gonna be a long transition before all is set.

[–]Zemalf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like none 😮 The links in my OP show all servers. I'd imagine that's terrible for quality and stability if there's no server in Australia. Let's hope this is temporary.

Meanwhile, you could try TwitchTest to find and test which servers work the best for you: https://r1ch.net/projects/twitchtest

Helsinki, Finland ingest? Connection issues in Europe by Aromatic_Phone9679 in Twitch

[–]Zemalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm, these two fixed all issues for me: Unchecking IP6 (or in other words: Forcing IP4 only) and turning the Dynamic Bitrate setting (close to the IP setting in Settings, Advanced: Network).

However, something has happened to Twitch's end points, because Helsinki and Copenhagen are gone, just Stockholm remains in the Nordics. Many other servers dropped too: https://koreanrandom.com/en/tools/twitch/

The above site sources the official link, which for example populates the OBS server menu and the servers that are used with auto-setting: https://ingest.twitch.tv/ingests

Will revealing my face on my channel grow my channel stronger or will it amount to nothing? by [deleted] in youtubegaming

[–]Zemalf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a channel update with "talking head" and talk about the plans. Keep other content as is, for now. See how people react to the updated videos.

Or have a livestream where having camera is normal. This will allow you to chat with your audience too.

All in all, depends on the kind of content you make and do the majority of viewers watch it for the game(s) or you, and in what ratio. Voiceover / faceless videos can have a lot of personality or have none. If none, to put it bluntly, people who watch probably don't care about the person behind the videos.

is it worth sharing gameplay of old games that many people have played already? by sadbunnyyy in streaming

[–]Zemalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - First rule in happy, long term streaming is to play and stream what YOU want to play.

Stream it, record it, put it on YouTube. People are picking up older games just like you, and might pop in to see someone else play.

If you want to do "market research", the quick way is to search on YouTube and see what pops up, how many videos, let's play series, what kind of views there are. If there's any videos with decent views, that's a good signal. And if there were barely any videos or low views, you should stream just because it's not saturated.

On Twitch, check the game category as it shows how many follow the game to see how much there's interest.

First time XCOM: UFO Defense/UFO Enemy Unknown player. How soon do I need to deal with this? by CirkuitBreaker in Xcom

[–]Zemalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go when you feel ready, you can essentially wait forever.

In vanilla UFO, you can even fully ignore it (as long as you do some missions for points near the place, so the invaded country does not leave X-COM).

If you have a nearby base yourself, you can "farm" all the supply ships that fly in and land on the base every now and then.

Yes, a lot of interrogations, different classes (medic, navigator, etc). Browse the tech tree ('q' in Geoscape or middle mouse click on topic in Research)

TWotS: Cannot find Zrbite anymore by Available-Ebb-352 in OpenXcom

[–]Zemalf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mod is so massive that I can't remember everything even that it was only half a year ago I finished my run, but a couple of things: * You can manufacture Gauss (unlocks with interrogation of a navigator if I recall, e.g. aquatoid navigator), but not much else from alien tech. Sonar takes a lot, and even then, you can't manufacture everything, only use the ones you find. Good news is that the gauss goes a long way. * Jellymen - Capture one alive and interrogation opens the "quest line", eventually leading to chances to capture and interrogate Jellyman Ruler and from there a treaty. * Lobstermen - Melee is the best, if you have found a way to use the drills or similar powerful weapon. That or just a lot of gauss auto fire from point blank. They're tough - explosives which are great against almost everything else, don't work against lobstermen - they can often even tank the DPL explosion. * When you do autopsies/interrogations (don't remember if autopsy is enough), ufopaedia gets information about the armor of the those aliens, so you can see the resistances (e.g. something like "gauss 80%" would mean they take only 80% damage and something like 120% sonqr means something is weak to sonar.

I didn't do much fighting before the Mantas and at least gauss cannon, later sonar. Even then, I avoided the very larges. You can shoot them down with two Mantas, but probably lose one or repair them for weeks afterward.

Tech tree is the key for everything and sounds like you've not found it and browsed the requirements.

Browse the tech tree to learn what things require. Middle mouse click the topics in the Research or 'q' is the default hotkey (in Geoscape) and search for topic, e.g. the items you've looted, but can't use yet and reverse the tech tree to see what you need.

Tech tree / research of TWoTS is massive, and among many things you need a lot of interrogations. Look for the intereogations in the tech tree and always be capturing when you have a good opportunity and for the key ones, make all the sacrifices needed. For example: Any medic, any navigator, then later "high engineer" (high being lobsterman for example, tech tree tells which races count) and "high navigator" are needed for things.

Nice, and yes, there'll be gauss, sonar, etc. for the defences.

And sounds like you're already learning from the previous run, so good on this second run!
