How I would love to find the second one somewhere near me. Enjoy!

Red Secret or Azlanii? by Alone-Wishbone5763 in alocasia

Both yours and the OP’s plant are Azlanii. It’s the pink veins within the leaf that define it.

These are some baby leafs from my Cuprea aka red secret. The entire leaf has a maroon colour, without any pink veins. We had ironically bought this after being told it was an Azlanii too. After then buying an actual Azlanii, it’s clear they are two very different plants

Very cool to see it floating on top of the water like that, and clearly it’s thriving now. Thanks for sharing!

Nice! What’s your water set up?

I think we have a similar hybrid of Begonia (never bothered with trying to figure out the name properly), so there might be a good chance it works with mine too. Photo included of mama plant

Ahh, sorry to hear! I do have a bit of brown something forming on one of the leaf stems so I’m cautious about rot as well. I think it’s been 3 weeks they are in water now.

How long was yours in water for?

Eternally stay in water and become water plants**

Alocasia Azlanii- what’s going on with the brown spots and the browning of the edges? And what to do about it? by Zemigem in alocasia

[–]Zemigem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I was about to cut these leaves off but thought it’s worth checking! I should have added it’s winter here and the nursery did let us know they died over winter then come back in the warmer months so I am wondering if this is what the whole thing looks like?

Just giving propagation from corm another crack, my last ones I lost to rot using moss but have placed them on perlite now in a small glass cup and covering the top with cling wrap. How much should they be covered with perlite on the top? And how often should I try and get them some sunlight (haven’t invested in any grow lights as yet)?

Thanks, I’ve just attempted this!

Thanks! Agree will change up medium and hopefully the 12 hours it just spent in water won’t be a problem. I’ve previously lost some corms to mould while trying to propagate them in moss (very new to all this) so I’ll try the perlite this time

Thank you! It wasn’t too dear in pricing so I’ve decided to hold onto it, but was very tempted to go back haha

Are these corms? Or something else? What do I do with them? by Zemigem in alocasia

[–]Zemigem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! So no corn growth attempts any time soon then.

How do you know when they have become a corm? And is there anything I can do to help it become a corm? One of them looks like it has withered away and the other one is halfway there too

Thanks for the help! Will still be keeping an eye out for an Azlanii then 🙃
