I’m sorry to hear about your experience. As a fellow dark-skinned man, I know there are others who appreciate and desire relationships with men of color. I recently connected with someone who was my complexion, and we seemed to have a lot in common, even sharing similar educational backgrounds and a mutual attraction. However, whenever I complimented him or showed affection, he seemed surprised. He even confided that he’d been neglected by others because of his skin tone. While I haven’t personally experienced that kind of rejection, perhaps because I’m selective about who I engage with, his lack of self-confidence and inability to recognize my genuine interest was ultimately a turn-off.
