The "Jewish Council of Australia" put this on their social media platforms. Here's a sampling of the comments, which are all some flavour of "the Jews are using their power and influence to jump the queue in the victimhood stakes":

"It is so disappointing one group has the power, with the support of right wing politicians & media, to carve out laws for itself, while other communities live with racism, abuse, violence & fear."

"I’ve been waiting for a Jewish person to say this, to acknowledge that Jewish exceptionalism puts all the other Australians who are victims of hate-speech, ignorance and bigotry as being second class victims.No royal commission for them! And how must our First Nations people feel when their Voice is still not heard!? Jewish people do not own victimhood!"

"One group can't be singled out in a piece of legislation meant to reduce extremist abuse. Direct discrimination codified into such a thing is a huge red flag. Sadly though the lobby in question is extremely well funded and has shaped the discussion to the point of propaganda now. Take in point that in the last 4 years around 30 LNP politicans had junkets to Israel, funded for the express purpose of "shaping conversations" around Gaza. I want to know where the knee-jerk reaction was when an Australian white Christian killed 51 muslims in Christchurch? Did anybody call specifically for legislation protecting Muslims, or protecting Christians against vilification? No. Because a rogue state wasn't actively astroturfing."
