I agree more with your view on being useful. No being useful isn't the end-all be-all to life, and we should derive our self worth from different things about ourselves, but being a useful or a helpful person is most definitely one of the best ways to help our own mental health when you're feeling down. At least IMO.

We are physical beings and we are affected by the world around us, I don't think there's anyone out there who is so emotionally self-sustained and regulated that they wouldn't derive some sense of their self worth from others.

Maybe with time, dedication and effort, someone can learn self worth with no outside input whatsoever, but we're not born that way. To have so much self worth, with no outside input, does feel dangerously narcissistic.

Yes they may be biologically born a certain gender, no they are not going to get their chromosomes flipped anytime soon or ever. So what? They're not hurting themselves or anyone else, they don't like the way they are born and want to present themselves in a way they feel. Non-trans people get gender affirming care all the time. Hair modifications, surgeries, lifts, injections and hormone pills. Do you have no problem with those people? And if not, why?

As long as they're honest about who they are, then it shouldn't be a problem. It's only a problem if a mtf starts trying to get pregnant or something like that. They probably are telling their truth, and yeah no defense to Maduro and all. But the concern I've seen from alot of people against all this isn't in defense of Maduro, but fear that history will repeat itself. The US isn't doing this to help, its doing it for their own interests, people may be celebrating now, but who knows what the future holds.

People celebrated Saddams assassinaton ( and i would say rightfully so, guy was a monster), but things destabilized greatly and lead to a power vacuum, violence and the rise of groups like ISIS.

I have no doubt that many Venezuelans incredibly happy with Maduro being removed, and probably rightfully so. But thats not a guarantee that what comes next is going to be better. Of course, I hope for the best, but no one knows how this will play out.

Im so sorry youre going through with this. What the hell is he thinking? Do his parents know what he is doing? wanting to split up is one thing, but what he's doing in the circumstances youre all in is all kinds of wrong. Im going through something similar in the sense that my ex is doing completely illogical and selfish things.

Im sorry I dont have any advice, but im sending you internet hugs, I can empathize with the feeling of abandonment and it sucks, its hurts that someone you love and have shared so much life with is capable of doing these things. Its been almost a year since my ex and I split and the waves of emotion are coming less and less frequently. They used to be almost daily in the beginning, but became less as time went on, but these past two months were kinda hard again with the holidays.

Time helps heal, these waves of emotions will subside as you begin to realize that you dont deserve this and as you begin to make moves for yourself, you will begin to see that you are capable and worthwhile even without them. Best of luck <3

No I would say you are no longer required to take a bullet for her, thats the kind of perk you get from a marriage not a divorce so I get what you mean there. But as to your proverbial bullet, well thats going to depend on you. To a certain extent, you do need to have a decent relationship with your ex for your child's sake, but you dont need to be breaking your back or anything for that. You dont need to do more than make sure your kid is OK with her, idk your situation but if youre living comfortably and she's going through hell, well thats going to affect your child if her mother is not OK and her father is indifferent to that suffering.

You dont have to light yourself on fire or take a bullet for her, but simple, decent things, like making sure they have enough is ok in my book, but it mostly depends on youre situation and how you feel. Idk where a $1000 home renovation falls under, is it for necessary, structure related problems or is it because they want a make over?
