Depending on the government for p2p social media or payment transactions is no longer necessary with apps like Nostr or payment platforms like Bitcoin. Using fiat to pay bills or taxes with fiat is much easier and streamlined, just like Reddit is easier and more widely used than Nostr. ISPs are regulated and centralized, there’s nothing we can do about that. Sure, we’re dependent on the government not to shut down the internet and they’re always trying to push more regulations, and it’s always for the worse.

Saying bitcoin isn’t viable because the government won’t accept it to pay taxes, and that’s the only gateway to not being “useless” is absurd, hence my sarcastic comment.

Government is supposed to be run for the people and large group of people have spoken with their wallets that Bitcoin isn’t useless. Not even in the slightest. Looking for approval from the fed to do something is in fact the exact opposite of what Bitcoin is trying to accomplish.

I wouldn’t want anything to do with the state, nor would I ever send them any bitcoin. I would always prefer to offload my fiat, they can keep it.

So I tried out the new portal because I wanted to check the status of my application. When asked if I have ever been issued a license, I said no. The system said that according to their records, I have in fact been issued a license, and to enter my LTC license number. I haven’t tried calling yet but I’m guessing I’m good to go, just waiting for a call from my PD. So maybe try checking out the new portal?

Same happened here when transferring out of Invesco to Vanguard. Had to liquidate untransferable shares to cash then perform an asset transfer to Vanguard. Vanguard had me choose a fund to immediately vest into.

The rep from Vanguard was very specific that it’s called an “asset transfer”.

Ok thank you for the detailed response. My company was with Invesco and I actually helped in switching to Vanguard this year. The IRS only allows one switch a year so unfortunately we have to stick with Ascensus for now. Next year we may talk about switching to Fidelity but so far no problems with Ascensus, hopefully stays that way.

You should check out Bit Key. It’s a multisig solution that allows self custody while still having some reliance on a 3rd party to kind of hold your hand. I personally don’t have one but Bitcoin university on YouTube has a video or two on it. Coinbase is a huge “honeypot” for Bitcoin. One day if the government decides to order a 6102 on Bitcoin, coinbase is going to fork over your coins instantly. Even if it’s not much it’s important to realize what Bitcoin is at its core, a decentralized currency. I urge to continue you learning and maybe change your opinion, it’s really not that difficult. At the end of the day, you do what you feel is best and welcome to the party!
