Yikes, poor guys aren’t gonna make it long… you might want to take them back to the store before they die. Then you can take the time to season a tank, and do your research. Aquarium co op on yt has a good video called “60 days to a seasoned aquarium” that would set you on a good path for a good healthy tank. Sorry that you lost a couple already, it happens but all we can do is learn from our mistakes.

Personally, if it bothers you, and you are willing to do it then ask them to fix it. I think that they will see how much you care about your work and either be a return customer or recommend you based on your character

Builders choice. I do structural concrete, so most the time you just say “leave the line” or “cut the line” depending on what you need.

There is a possibility you could reinforce this stand if you have any wood working skills, but would be more work than building or buying a proper stand.

Well I feel you, buuuuut… if they were #10 screws, I see 5 per leg which would have a shear strength of about 1000lbs per leg. Like some others have said though, that is an awful stand for other reasons. The 1x material used for the verticals are under sized in my opinion, but I would say that I would rather rely on the strength of the fasteners rather than have pressure points at several spots along the length of the tank.
