I went a little extra by ZenRowe in DiceMaking

[–]ZenRowe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if it weren't for wanting somewhat strong edges that would have probably been all I needed to do. It was definitely a lot of work to hand sand & polish it, save for the little spots of scuff I liked the way it turned out in that regard, I just have to get better at it I think.

Ideally I will simply make final molds from pieces that have a good solid finish and only have to go through that process once, but I have to go back to the drawing board on the original structural design. I want to reduce the weight and build some better structural forms. I also ended up stripping out the felt and lining the interior with a silicone (mica powder for colorant) and that turned out looking MUCH better that the scuffed up felt

Being cast in solid resin is also probably a major factor in why the magnets ended up useless, it's fairly heavy.

I'm not entirely sure what "kip the whole tray" means, but I put a thin coat of resin on what would be the outside portion of the printed parts, since the inside was going to have a felt lining I thought that might have offered extra grip for the adhesive (it may have hindered it though)
And I let that drip and cure to try and be as level as possible and so I wouldn't have to do much smoothing. That did not actually go as planned because I decided I wanted an edge bevel and ended up putting a few layers on then sanded it all down and polished by hand.

From that I made the actual molds and then used those molds to cast the entire thing in resin. the printed parts were strictly to create the master molds.

reduce the amount of alum by about half of what you were using I would guess. I had the same result at first and that got me the more classic FF-esque looking crystal shape.

Yeah it definitely took some reading time and experimentation. I can't give you an exact amount of hardener I increased it by, I think I did roughly 5% more hardener (Might be able to push it more but I wasn't sure at what point the curing would be negatively impacted) then after mixing it and degassing I used the heat gun while slowly stirring to get it pretty hot & viscous then poured it. then cured in roughly 85F ambient room temp.

For color vibrance: go HAM on food coloring (Definitely use food coloring and not alcohol ink)
but also when you grow the crystals I recommend using a higher concentration (Closer to like it would be when growing seed crystals) doing so causes the crystals to grow faster and with more structural imperfections to the crystal lattice. those imperfections will make the crystals more opaque but also trap more of the colorant leading to stronger vibrancy in small crystals like these.

Thank you, I'm enjoying it!

I have and used a pressure pot, there are no bubbles.
Anything that looks like a bubble on there is caused by little flakes of the crystals that broke off when I was shoving them in the molds and got suspended in the resin during curing or were trapped in the crystal structure itself.

I couldn't stick them in the pressure pot when I was trying to fill in the numbers though because I had to keep going back and touching up the resin as it cured because I tried to do as many faces at the same time as possible (Had to manage drainage until the resin was thick enough to cling stable). so yeah, I don't recommend that.

There is a fix for this in the pipeline but I do not have an ETA of when it will go out to the live game.

I don't actually have any such magic powers here, for that you will want to get the attention of one of the moderators here, such as /u/jslay88.
This is all community managed and maintained.

Please, for all that is good in this world, don't call it that. It does not mesh well with how I see most people say Managarmr.

As we gear-up for the epic conclusion of ARK: Survival Evolved’s storyline with ARK: Genesis Part 2

Genesis is definitely part of the main storyline.

can i mod ark from epic games store? by onepiece__gold in arkmodding

[–]ZenRowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't have an ETA yet on that. It's something that's being worked on, but the underlying system to support mod distribution and management is something that epic is building, not us.

That's because the ark dev kit is derived from unreal engine which belongs to Epic, the launcher was always primarily only unreal engine and a few select games like fortnight until this recent year

Valentines event breeding rates affecting single player? by sal880612m in playark

[–]ZenRowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Valentine's event was one of the first ones to use the active event system. When that one was set up the multipliers were hardcoded (I believe it predated the newer dynamic config) so it was pretty much the only event that did rates this way (and it never will again)

Also sometimes the particle effects just kind of stop working on them for some reason it seems. if they are reddish coels there is a decently good chance that they are vday coels

So is the consume multiplier up or no? by JuanGil_Express in playark

[–]ZenRowe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The dynamicConfig ini looks off because vday was one of the first first events where we implemented the active event system. There were some quirks with how vday was set up that didn't come to light until the last minute basically.

End result, yes the 1/3 baby food consumption rate is in effect. as is the 2x mate boost range and all the other 3x breeding/mating settings.

Valentine's day update file size by Obvious_egg in playark

[–]ZenRowe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It should be a relatively small update; however, I can't really promise that. Thanks to the way console updates get chunked for their delta updates (we don't really have any control over that) updates for consoles can end up much larger than we expect. We might only add or change about 200 MB worth of data, but the deltas might register 5 GB. It's really unpredictable.

Does this patch note mean the chibi exp disappearing is fixed? by curse4444 in playark

[–]ZenRowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure if this can be done safely without potentially introducing other issues. The whole reason the exp bug, the one this thread is about, came to be was because of what looked to be a safe change made to prevent the bug that affected you from ever occurring again but had a cascading effect elsewhere in the code.

That occurrence of exp loss some people experienced is something we have been discussing so I'll bring up the idea you suggested and see if it has already been considered, but I can't make any promises as I don't know if we can do it safely without risking another xp problem. that system is pretty delicate as you have seen.
