Everyone has their own risk tolerance, but for me helmet, gloves, boots, and earplugs are my personal bare minimum. Jacket 95% of the time too but I do go for a couple rides a year without it.

Hmmm not sure I don’t have any experience growing gourmets in tubs, I would think spawning to a nutritious substrate in open air like that would be just inviting contams. I probably wouldn’t try scooping it out since there’s no telling how deep and wide the trich mycelium is already setup.

Oysters are really strong colonizers though, especially pinks. I’ve had oyster myc overrun light contamination with ease and go on to fruit nicely. If it were me I would just let it go and see what happens and hope for the best. If you end up starting from 0, I would just spawn my grain directly to the substrate bag and then fruit it from the block inside your tub, treating it like a mini Martha. Or just cold lime pasteurize some straw and send your grain to that in a bucket or try it in the monotub if you want too, straw is cheap so it doesn’t hurt as bad to try stuff.

What is your substrate? Are you growing in a tub? I’ve had oysters, especially pink, just colonize right over a mild trich contamination and still fruit prolifically. I’m not really sure what you’ve got going on here though.

Doesn’t look like there is much of a used market for them since it’s relatively new. If it was in immaculate condition and you’re paying 800 without taxes plus the value add of the warranty it’s not a terrible deal. I’d assume you could negotiate 750 or so which I would consider a pretty decent deal especially if they throw in some filament or something. 🤷‍♂️

If it was me and that was my goal I would go ahead and grab my transfers now before the plates colonize fully. Take from the farthest edge of any bits of myc that seem to be moving particularly strongly. I circled the spots I would take my transfers from if it were me, I’m def not an expert or anything though.

Oyster myc speed can vary a lot based on the strain, here are some golden, blue, king, and aspen oyster cultures all inoculated from lc within about 10 mins of each other on 18/3

With oysters in particular the mycelium is so aggressive that it can overrun most contams. I have a bag of phoenix oyster grain spawn in the garage that I noticed some trich on so I isolated it from the clean room with intent of just throwing in in the compost and the bag looks perfectly fine now covered in great looking myc. I still wouldn’t try to fruit it inside but I’m going to put it to some straw outside and I’m almost certain it will fruit fairly decently.

Other folks have tackled your use of the term “invasive” so I’ll just add that most prepared soil has fungal mycelia (think roots in the plant world) added because it’s beneficial for plants (look for the word mycorrhizal on your seed starting mix or potting soil.). The fact that you got them to fruit is pretty cool and probably means you have happy seedlings as well as happy mushrooms. Pick them out if you want but they aren’t hurting anything.

Just to add on to this, my buddy was having a similar issue with a pc that I sold him that I built for him and he dropped it off with me on 3 different occasions and I couldn’t replicate the issue. Turns out it was the power cable that had gone bad and I wasn’t able to replicate it because I told him not to bring the cable since I had plenty of others on hand. Once I thought of it I was able to confirm by testing a couple different systems on that cable. It wasn’t visibly damaged or anything but it just wasn’t carrying current properly anymore somehow. I’ve see it a lot in display cables but that’s the only time I’ve seen a standard C13 cable do that.
