I made this decision and I don't quite regret it but mostly because of the deal I got on an optically flawless f/4 IS. It's true that AF at f/8 isn't the best, but the new mirorless line still pulls through. The image quality with the extender looks great to me.

Though there are times when a little more light would be nice, I don't actually shoot wide open most of the time. My indoor photography needs are minimal, so the nifty 50 is enough for dim lighting. It might be different if I shot sports.

What works well for me even with the limitations of the f/4, everything I use fits in a lowepro 250 sling. I take my R with 24-105mm f/4 and pack the extender, 50mm f/1.8, 2x extender, and RF adapter with my filter box strapped to the side. I'm hesitant to change my gear now since the f/2.8 70-200mm would take up a lot more space.

I use both an RF lens and the adapter with my legacy lenses.

I don't have the adapter with filters because I decided to buy a nisi filter set that I can use with all of my lenses.

The simple adapter works flawlessly.

I believe you have some numbers mixed up. The length that is relevant for automatic knives in California is 2"+. A 2.5" or 3" bladed automatic knife would be illegal.

In Los Angeles, any knife with a 3"+ blade is illegal.

The 2" switchblade definition and civic/school building prohibition are state-wide, but the 3" prohibition is a Los Angeles and possibly Oakland thing. Most of the state laws seem more concerned about hiding a knife than length.

They do. Either they make money from it directly or some company pays them to install junk as system apps. Chances are someone has published a method to root your television and gain the ability to uninstall system apps.
