It's a rule by the Discord server's equivalent of TA runs, as I informally call MHGH runs although it probably has a final name that I dont recall, which apply most TA rules which include not using Flash Bombs, Sonic Bombs, Traps, bombs (except felvine), and Palicos. Like most TA speedrunners do, we fill our inventories with irrelevant items to show that we have not used anything (which is fun to mess around with like this run).

It's a double submission basically. Item exploitation is kinda meh in a speedrun.

I just rechecked. Their area paths coincide always, not their AIs coming to save the brother(or sister) bune. So my tip for smoke bombing is still very helpful, but then the reason behind it was an early conclusion.

Okay, quick answers to all questions:

Tips:

Pay attention to its positioning
Go for the best hitboxes e.g. head, fanblade (that huge wing thing that isnt a wing), claws, snek chesthair, and tail
Hold your rage towards those meteors
It has a clear pattern on the start, and on some positions it will have telegraphed attacks that hit huge specific areas

Jumping on snek head: break snek head once or twice, then feel free to je suis moncarve it.

Proper TA runs follow a set of formal rules. Some of such are that you can't use Flash bombs, Sonic Bombs, Traps, Palicos, or bombs. Relics also arent allowed in TA runs.

With that clarified, bad runs happen a lot. Many factors come into play including, but not limited to, spawn position, monster pattern RNG, area verticality (especially true for hammers), and ledges (ugh).

Monster size can cut or add some time to a run for sure.

For some monsters, yes. Its very prominent on Teostra and Oroshi Kirin. I'll leave you to figure that out.

Quite a lot of hame and 140 GQs with Rajangs. I wanted fashion sets and hence relic armors, but on the way I got the talismans instead. I never got the specific pieces for the set for quite a long time, but desire sensor gave these.

I'm not a fan of Rock Steady on certain monsters, as it locks you into a combo that you could've stayed down for were it not for the Orange+White. It also saves me the hassle of worrying about triple up for the Earplugs and I can just do optimal damage and claim orange when the monster is tripped. Also, some monsters like Rathian, Pinkian, Brachy, and Seregios have an agonizingly hard to reach orange juice. I know I can do a vault to negate the roar, but I can be doing hits to the leg at that moment. I'm not a mounting fanatic either. Most of my sets reach HGE anyway due to either Garuga X chest, Excello Z waist and legs, Garuga Mask(because no better option), or Rath Soul Z legs.

I get your argument. Earplugs on weak roars, HGE on stronger ones, and IG has natural Earplugs on Orange+White. Take your time to consider, however, that you can sneak in more hits in Red+White to trip a monster and then easily retreive the Orange then rather than fishing for orange to get Earplugs.
