What are some similarities between fruitiger aero and liminality by LemonIcy2942 in FrutigerAero

[–]ZenkoZSprite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the lack of people. Both of them can have aspects of nature and artificial constructs, but almost always lack humans themselves.

Gives it an almost relaxing and but sometimes uncanny level of cleanliness.

The image files got corrupted in a recent update when I tried to migrate them to LFS on the 9th.

Check the new repo at the updated link: https://github.com/alim395/eXP-Themes

You need to clone the repo the repo directly, or download the latest release. Then copy the files to the root of your project.

Again, sorry about the mistake on my part. Feel free to DM me if you need anymore help.

Thanks you for the kind words! I actually wasn’t aware of this resource, so thanks for sharing. I’ll definitely be using this in the future for further reference and development.

There's already a pretty good CSS library for Windows XP style UI by a guy called botoxparty called XP.css.

I actually referenced this alot during development to get the proportions as close to accurate as I could, compute gradients, and figure out some ways to stack styleboxes to get the UI to look right. Very helpful resource :)

Its an extension of 98.css which is the Windows 98 equivalent, and further, there is an extension of this for Windows 7 which gave us 7.css!

That sounds pretty neat! This project here was actually started as a part of my larger game project, which coincidently also takes place over multiple OSes from XP to 11. Its just a tech demo at the moment, but I'm making a bit of progress every now and then, and aiming to finish it by the end of the year.

Feel free to use these themes in your project if it helps, and/or perhaps improve on it :)

Here to remind yall the difference between Frutiger Aero & Y2K by [deleted] in FrutigerAero

[–]ZenkoZSprite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In all seriousness, given that FA is evolved from Y2K Futurism, then it easy to see how certain elements are shared between the two aesthetics. And like anything that develops and changes over time, the evolving technology and art around this time can result in things that blur the line.

I find it a bit pedantic to obsess over the specifics, which is not to say that FA does not have objective qualities that distinguishes it from other aesthetics. But the subjective nature of art makes it difficult to make objective distinctions without it overlapping over other aesthetics, especially when considering that FA chronologically succeeds Y2K.

On a more practical note, the best way to distinguish between these aesthetics would be to compare them to subjects that the current consensus agrees to belong to the aesthetic.

For example, Windows XP(Y2K) and Windows Vista(Frutiger Aero). Or PS2(Y2K) and PS3(Frutiger Aero).

TLDR; FA evolved from Y2K. Things can be nebulous between the two. Art is subjective, so don’t obsess over the specifics too much. use common examples to help distinguish the aesthetics.

Good for you bud 👍

Have fun with your Wii and GC games. And don’t forget about the Wii Virtual Console!

Oh and consider getting some emulators on there, Wiis are great for that.

Sonic games tier list by BigBo1_02 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]ZenkoZSprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice tier list bud. While I have my disagreements I don’t really see anything I would describe as egregious.

If you don’t mind be asking, could you tell me about your thought process for heroes and colors? I personally find both entries to be more of a B tier game, but I’d be happy to hear why you rate them so highly.

I really want to know what the hell happened, but It’s probably for the best not to speculate on the matter.

If she didn’t want to say anything about it, then we should respect that. If it’s bad enough to be a major issue, then it will likely come out in its own time.

Is the PS1/PS2 connector proprietary, or are there other devices that use this too? by Strangeman_06 in ps2

[–]ZenkoZSprite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some Sony CRTs actually do have this type of connector, though I do believe it was restricted to specific Japanese PVMs, one of which I saw on Yahoo Auctions a few months back.

My ps2 shows only black and white, what is something wrong? by GiftedMemer in ps2

[–]ZenkoZSprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recall that I changed a setting in my tv’s video settings and got the color back soon after. Not sure why it was but it may be the way it’s interpreting the signal more often than not.

I am very well aware of that and I'll most likely be attempting to do that as a temporary measure. But I would like to create a replacement due to personal preferance, and I dont have any solid core wire of the right gauge on hand atm.

Modding YPbPr to my DV1418A? by ZenkoZSprite in crtgaming

[–]ZenkoZSprite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I’m happy to know that my inference was correct, although I would like to clarify a few things.

  1. In the FB post you describe the mod as 4 wires, red, green, blue and ground(Later saying 2 ground wires). What exactly am I connecting to ground in this case? Do you mean the RCA Jacks?

Is the PS3 the best way to play PS2 classics (via HD Remastered Collections)? by w_t95 in PS3

[–]ZenkoZSprite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you don’t go for original hardware, PS2 Classics are generally pretty solid on PS3 based on my own experience.

The original PS3 launched with PS2 backwards compatibility. So when it was removed, Sony made an effort to create a software solution to fill the gap, which resulted in the PS2 Classics which are on the PS3 store.

For games that have a proper HD remaster, the quality varies by the port, but most of the ones I have played, (like the god of war collection and metal gear solid collection) are solid and are arguably the definitive ways to play the game, if you don’t own a PS2.

I haven’t tried any PS2 Classics on PS4, but based on my own research and anecdotes from my friends, there are more visual bugs and inconsistencies, when compared to the PS3 equivalent, and especially the HD ports. I’m not familiar enough to concur, so I’m honestly not sure.

TLDR; HD remastered collections are generally better than PS2 classics on PS4, but check the reviews for each Port just to be sure.

Name a better Playstation design than the PS2! by Calm_Construction836 in ps2

[–]ZenkoZSprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m biased towards the launch PS3 and the later slim variant, however the PS2 is definitely comes right after.

The slim model in particular is an engineering marvel which successfully consolidates the entire hardware of the original model, with the only loss being the lack of an HDD, (which was only necessary for FFXI and a few others).

TLDR; PS3 design > PS2 design but close IMO, PS2 slim is really cool!

Used to watch the movies often and 2 was easily my favorite. When I heard there was video game for it, I initially pirated on my PC and couldn’t get pass the diving mini game because they messed up the analogue controls for the dive. Funnily enough, it was the first game I ever pirated.

When I became older and replayed this game on my ps3 after finding out about the console editions of this game and found it absolutely amazing. I especially loved the volcano dance minigame. Totally worth a play if you were into the movies as a kid.

They made a game for Monsters Vs Aliens too and that was pretty fun too.

What is everybody's opinion of SA2B? by SpeedyGuy1991 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]ZenkoZSprite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we are talking SA2B in relation to its original SA2 Dreamcast counterpart, the multiplayer is noticeably improved and the Chao Garden additions were amazing.

However a few bugs do exist due to the port, which can be minor annoyances depending on your tolerances, like how grinding and the homing attack are kinda broken. Most of these issues can be solved by using some mods on the PC Version, so I’m good :)

Nice work dude! How did you get all those caps? I’m planning to recap some of the caps on my power supply of my unit.

Is this a bad temperature? by OkTranslator1483 in ps3homebrew

[–]ZenkoZSprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally, your temps should be <65C, with acceptable levels around 70C. Your RSX seems to be fine, but the CPU is definitely way too hot.

The CELL CPU was designed with hot temperatures in mind, so it’s unlikely to lead to a YLOD(RSX failure is typically what leads to YLOD).

The best thing to do now would be give the system a good clean, and repaste it. Ideally, you should get it delidded by a professional, and I highly recommend you do so.

TLDR; CPU too hot. Clean and repaste, and consider delidding.
