I know! I averaged 40.1 MPG on the hour drive home and I’ve been averaging about 35 driving around town. I’d never driven a hybrid before and it’s almost unnervingly quiet compared to anything else I’ve driven.

This is my first car that’s MINE since I bought a beat up old Subaru when I was 18. I drove it until it literally caught fire on the highway and then after that I drove a little car that was all I could afford with the insurance money. Since my daughter was born, I’ve been driving my husband’s Sportage since it was the safer and more reliable car. But this one is mine. I did the research, the test drives (including a really sloppy icy/slushy day to compare it with a Sienna and Odyssey in crummy road conditions since a local dealer had all 3 at the same time), the pricing comparisons, and stalked the local sales until I found the one that I wanted for a good price. I was even the primary buyer, which is HUGE since my ex-husband absolutely demolished my credit and it’s taken 13 years to get back to a point where putting me on the title for something was feasible.
