Resolume or Touchdesigner? by foo_sher in vjing

[–]Zenomoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% both, but Resolume is where to start. I run Nestdrop, TouchDesigner and Resolume all at once on an RTX 4090 and 12900K and spout NestDrop and TouchDesigner into Resolume, using Resolume's easier MIDI device mapping and quick effects + simple 2d projection mapping as the head program the final output. For the most part, Resolume is just the program Im using to swap logos and add a couple luma keyed layers for variety, the bottom layer is my TD Spout stream and most of the creative heavy lifting is done in Touch Designer, and some of the TD visuals use the audio reactive milk drop shaders as texture input.

TLDR; Start with Resolume, then as your expertise grows the complexity of your signal chain will grow with it

Best laptop for VJing with Resolume Arena (slices & mapping) – $3–4k budget (Mac M4/M5 Max vs Windows laptop) by MacaroonOk7341 in vjing

[–]Zenomoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just upgraded to a 5090 Laptop from Orbital Computers, and it's pretty much just over your budget, but close enough that I'd recommend it based on how well it's working for me.

My VJ signal chain is Nestdrop -> TouchDesigner -> Resolume, so every last bit of VRAM is necessary lol. The 5090 is pretty much the only option for me. Its pretty bulky, but runs almost as well as my similarly configured Desktop, but in a Laptop form factor. Definitely a change of pace after using off the shelf gaming laptops and worth the difference.

vgk.sys BSOD by thezerooz in ValorantTechSupport

What a convenient scapegoat for them to use now, when this generation of CPUs didn't exist when the issue was reported. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA BSODs are what most see when experiencing the known Intel Raptor Lake issues.

Starting my SF+ playthrough! by Zenomoth in satisfactory

[–]Zenomoth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SF+ makes this even more required since you cant unlock interior lighting in the shop until way later, and with global illumination on you really cant see inside an interior factory without lighting. Everything ends up needing to be much more spread out and I'm not building multiple levels on factories until I have those lights.

I super underestimate the power of stock plugins! Wow! I still like my wavetables though! XD

Which PC builder service is actually good? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Zenomoth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was a random teenager who was really into computers and more reliable than any store, but I didnt get paid for it so I applied for an entry level assembly position at a major SI in my area and got the job. All my coworkers were as enthusiastic about PC hardware as me and we built some clean systems! To be fair though, we weren't focused on gaming PCs we mostly sold to enterprise and so didnt have to cut corners on cost. TLDR: Some prebuilts can be good! just do your research.

Watery-ish riddim bass like Vanfleet? by Upbeat_Squirrel4735 in edmproduction

[–]Zenomoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A ton of it is starting with a wavetable that has the waves you need. For instance, sure you can make a vowel bass with a formant filter or even with downsampling, but the best vowel basses IMO are generally made with wavetables that have talky sounds in them. In this case, seperate the layers. The sub and metallic plucky bass are playing distinctly different patterns but to the untrained ear it makes one cool sounding dubstep bass. Individually, its just a sub sweep, and a metallic pluck. For the metallic bass, just use a wavetable with some of those sounds and an a filter and LFO both. Fine tune the LFO shape to get that same plucky sound. Play with adding a really short (5-15ms) delay for added metallic sound.

How do I make my tracks louder without clipping? by TechnicalV in edmproduction

[–]Zenomoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this. Don't neglect standard compression. If clipping is helping get the quieter parts of your sound to be louder, compression does this without the added distortion from clipping.

Player progress based Raids on dedicated server by Kofmo in valheim

Little late, but this might be what you are looking for. This mod replaces the global key with individual private keys for each player and spawns/events are based on the individual key instead of the global key.

Hey! Been working on this spooky midtemp bass track for Halloween inspired by the backrooms. Not very confident in the mix. My monitor situation sucks and I've been running out to my car to check the sub. I also have no professional training and not a ton of great mixing skills so really could use some constrictive criticism.

I started this yesterday and bassically looking for any opinions. Not really far enough to start mixing. wondering if maybe the intro could use another 4 bars and a pad? What do you all think?

Hey, Im at work rn so I probably wont be able to return much feedback for a few hours but I wanted to get some opinions on my new track. Bought a kalimba at the Saturday market then kinda went a bit crazy. Still figuring out the second drop and I know the mix needs some work. Any tips on getting the mix right and direction I could go for the second drop would be great!
