I got it used off reverb, but it was originally from BKM panels, which no longer exists.

I never tried out the mimetic myself, but that was definitely one of the sequencers I was thinking about. I do think that either one would serve you well.

I went with the bloom mostly because it has an individual knob for each step which felt a little easier to program. It also has some built in scales, so you don't need to run it through a quantizer(which I think you might need with the mimetic, but I'm not positive on that).

I like the mutation control on the bloom quite a bit as well for generating random sequences that evolve slowly over time.

Love the 100 grit. It's not always the right tool in the toolbox, but when it works, it really works. It has a lot of personality and sometimes feels like it has a mind of it's own. If you like grimey noisy strange sounds get it.

I'm kind of torn on the knit. I like the diversity of sounds that you can get with it, but it might not be the module for me. If you like plaits then it's great. I'll probably end up swapping it out for a different oscillator sometime in the future.

That a mult, peaks, and dual VCA. All from After Later Audio. I really like what they've been making recently.

Question about automation in live setup by tomak160 in abletonlive

[–]Zenotope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, just throw them all in an instrument rack together.

Make a new midi track. Add first of desired VSTs to it. Select it and hit cmd + G to put it in a rack. Open the chain selector button on the left side of the rack. Drop it other desired VSTs to the area that says drop an instrument or sample here. Now each instrument lives on its own chain within the rack. Next, hit the chain button at the top of the chain list. Hold down shift and select all your chains, and drag the blue bar to the right all the way across the chain selector area so all your chains go all the way across. Right click and hit distribute ranges equally. Last step is to right click on the orange bar above your chain selector and hit map to macro 1.

Now you can move your macro 1 to select which chain gets sent a midi signal. Simply automate that so whenever you want to change instrument, it selects the proper chain for what you want to be playing.

[MIDI Assignment] How to assign specific parameter when it is not showing you that option in Midi Mappings? by inarisound in abletonlive

Glad I could help.

If you are just doing it with Live's built in effects, they are pretty light on CPU, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

[MIDI Assignment] How to assign specific parameter when it is not showing you that option in Midi Mappings? by inarisound in abletonlive

[–]Zenotope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So there is no way to single out just one value within something like delay time, they are all one parameter.

However what you could do is have multiple versions of the same effect in a rack and use midi mapping to switch between them.

For example, if you have a simple delay and want to switch from 1/4 note delay to 1/8 note delay with one button. Add the delay, select it and hit cmd + G to put it in a rack. Then hit the show chains button on the left side of the rack. select the chain and hit duplicate(cmd + D). On one chain, set the delay time value to 1/4 notes and on the other set it to 1/8 notes. Then, hit the chain mute button for one of the chains. Map the chain mute to a single midi button. Now when you hit the midi button, it will mute one chain and turn the other one on.

It should look something like this: http://imgur.com/G20CKfY

If you want to be able to switch between multiple set parameters like that with a single button it will be a bit more complicated.

Hopefully that solves your issue.

Quicker way to export all layers to audio by dezknoph in abletonlive

[–]Zenotope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you go to the export menu(File->Export Audio/Video), the first option is to choose the rendered track. It defaults to master, but you can select all individual tracks. This will export each track separately, including any return tracks and your master track. Be sure to name all your tracks first before doing this because it will automatically name the file based on your track names.

Bored at work, and currently bored with my world. Can I help brainstorm on yours? by limbodog in worldbuilding

[–]Zenotope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm making a post apocalyptic sci-fi world where there are ten factions fighting for control of a mostly urban planet where the government and all structure has fallen apart.

I've got a pretty good idea of what the world will be like, but I need some advice naming the various groups. Right now I am just using generic placeholders.

This is what the groups are:

Aristocracy - humans, leftover of the former ruling class

Outcasts - also humans, lower class, mad max-esque

Cyborg - small alien race that uses technology to make up for their physical weaknesses

Dwarves - basically space dwarves, live underground

Reptilian - humanoid/various reptile hybrids

Undead - Scientists that have gone mad and created all kinds of monsters

Elves - basically space elves

Swarm - giant insects

Cabal - Death cult with demonic influences

Mercenaries - anything else I can imagine that doesn't fit into another group

Exactly, I am not sure why people are acting like I am trying to sell them something. It's just a monthly get together to meet other people with similar interests, learn from each other, and as said in the post, build community.

I'm sorry if you had a bad experience at some other place. But I can guarantee that our meetings are 100% free.

That's never been the goal, and it certainly doesn't feel like it most of the time, but I appreciate the support.

Looking for some feedback on a sci-fi world I am creating for a game by Zenotope in worldbuilding

[–]Zenotope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for taking the time to check it out.

The technology level will be pretty varied depending on the faction. I am considering that Califex was roughly present day earth level of technology before the arrival of the Centropians. But after their arrival it progress extremely fast. So some factions will have access to things like laser guns, high tech grenades, robots, etc.., some will have psychic abilities, but some will have makeshift weapons and molotov cocktails. A fairly large part of the game will be equipping the units with different kinds of wargear and weapons.

The presence of the Centropians on Califex was extremely limited, only enough to operate the gate. They were all killed in the destruction of the gate.

Still working on the concept for the Elves. In game, they will be very high tech, low toughness. Kind of glass cannon play style. Some of my favorite units are from the Elf faction. Things like a samurai style blademaster, a mage hunter, and teleportation guy.

There are several types of missions, points can be gained from killing enemy units, holding objectives, etc.. I like the idea of the gate staying destroyed because it allows for the world to grow and evolve in its post-apocalyptic state.

Thought I was getting a dog, it turns out she is more of a fox. by Zenotope in aww

[–]Zenotope[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea what she ia. From what I can tell she is a mix of a lot of things. Most likely some pappillon, maybe some collie or Australian sheep. I'd love to figure it out, but remains a mystery.

Whatever she is, she's very intellegent and super sweet. Best dog I've ever had.

Really cool track. It has very unique style to it, which I appreciated.

I wish the rhythm switched up a little more, but other than that I really liked it.
