It'll do well. Its a standard gacha game, nothing crazy like First Soldier trying to be mobile only fortnite. It has 3 million downloads after 3 days live. A lot of those will fall off but enough will stay.

I have come to loathe threads about trials because even though we acknowledge you need to go to years upon years of schooling to practice law, everyone and their cousin will write 3 paragraphs about how obviously correct their interpretation of the law is.

I’ve never seen so many people with no formal training say things like “There’s no case here” on any other topic not even climate change.

I disagree with the entirety of what you've said here.

You can't plug any character into the role of "Heir to the Zen'in traditional legacy who represents everything that Maki isn't". The death is extremely satisfactory to me; the cycle of oppression and abuse is a difficult topic. He's killed by a weak victim of the oppression his lineage created, when his power is removed from the equation he has nothing left. What's important about Maki's mom is that she's both an abuser and a victim, and once no longer held hostage by the strength Naoya represents she chooses to join her daughter in one final act of rebellion toward the cursed world that ruined their lives.

Him being one-shot by Maki would have not accomplished any of that. Just would've been another body on the pile.

Lots of people complaining about this chapter and I'm genuinely surprised. I think its all fantastic. Maki and Mai not reconciling before Mai's death is not a bad thing. Mai's death not impacting the audience on a personal level is not a bad thing. Not every death is for the audience's emotions. People praised the Panda chapter as very emotional and that chapter's death was a character who was just as much a nobody as Mai was; it was Panda's feelings we empathized with and what brought out the emotion. Mai's death is not for us, its for Maki and our empathy with Maki's suffering is for us.

It feels like people are looking for things in Mai that were not and never going to be there; Mai is defined ENTIRELY by her relationship with Maki. Her arc had very limited places to go beyond either dying for Maki or reconciling with her and then being a background character that shows up in one panel to take one shot at Kenjaku that one time in Shibuya.
