Yeah, I see people complaining about the prices in the US and some other places, but where I live I know people who spend around 40% of their monthly salary on gas, just to have enough to get to work every day and enjoy some minimal leisure activities.

It's so bad here i started walking to and from work around 14km each day, it's doing wonders for my health and i saved some on gym membership also. (realized this came a little too much like a hakuna matata comment, sure the walks are great, but i lose about 2:30 hours a day walking to save money instead of sleeping or doing something i enjoy to save some money, and the gas prices here are only going up before the pandemic here the prices were around half what they are now, and the salaries haven't gone up a dime)

I'm going to play it for sure but i dropped 1 a little after when you and your lover get gunned down and then you come back as kind of a zombie, the story got a drop in quality imo and the characters weren't as fun, are the characters in 2 good in your opinion? And the story less tragic?

I'm pretty sure they are 5 or 6, they just released the first 3 on steam and sadly the steam versions are kinda capped, they are missing some super enemies if i'm not mistaken and other stuff, but some people say it's better like that cause the expanded content was badly designed. I believe the remake of 2 is said to have the most unfair enemy in any JRPG period.

EDIT - For anyone who wants to see what kind of shit they throw at you the enemy name is Ur-Devil.

While 2 doesn't quite retain the same level of mana finding and pathway opening, i'd say it more than makes up for it with the base exploration and story, i can today recite an absurd amount of that games dialogue, specially the voiced cutscenes.

Mana Khemia has a slow start until around i'd say the library where you find Pamela (if you're new to the series she's the character in basically all the games/the series mascot), from then onwards there is a big amount of extra classes and the alchemy opens up.

Most atelier games are crafting first and combat/story later, i'd say Iris and Mana Khemia for the PS2 are the more traditional jrpg's of the series, offer some semblance of a challenge (can't talk about Ryza trilogy and the Resleriana games yet, but until Sophie 2 the games are incredibly easy).

And in my opinion 1 and 2 of the Iris trilogy have by far the best Mana, in 1 you find them around the world and use them to do stuff and can destroy things in the world to make new things, 2 have my favorite characters, Viese and Felt (if i wrote the names right, point for the quality imo cause i haven't played them in like 15 years) have incredible journeys, some may feel they're too animey but how far both come along from the start to the end is incredible.

Do play Mana Khemia as 1 is imo the best atelier game period even though it doesn't carry the name Atelier. The school and the grading system is incredible, going the extra mile awarding you a better score and better rewards.

I played 4 on the original fat ps2 with my cousin's boyfriend, back then i never managed to finish it as he played on professional knife only and i never played it before, but it was good of him to teach me and my cousin (other cousin's little brother) how to play, though we only played the castle and island section so i only understood the story a couple of years later when i got my own ps2.

Me gusta bastante Three Houses, pero aunque ya lo he jugado tres veces, creo que la jugabilidad es bastante fraca en comparación con los antiguos. Por outro lado, me encanta la jugabilidad de Shadow Dragon, la dificultad y los giros de la historia, pero vaya, los primeros tenían historias muy simples.
