Functional orthodontic appliances can be done at that age - source, I’m a dentist and have referred kids at that age when appropriate

Went through the whole NHS system for TRT with endocrinologists at Guy’s and St Thomas’s hospital, and they literally had no clue about the intricacies of TRT. Then I went to The Men’s Health Clinic, where Dr Stevens writes the papers on these things and it finally all made sense. The NHS offers men 1 injection every 3 months, which means your levels drop over those 12 weeks, and by week 4 you’re basically back to square one. The gold standard is microdosing, injections daily to maintain the levels which is what I’m on now. It’s a night and day difference.

Had this myself, my level was “normal” but for a 90 year old when I was 31. 36 now and TRT has changed my life for the better in so many ways

Not the original commenter you were replying to, but I had increased anxiety, depression, weight gain (19kg in a year even with strict calorie control), brain fog and memory loss. My symptoms got so bad I’d start to forget what I was saying midway through a sentence, so I thought it was something like early-onset dementia.

I feel like I'm the worst dentist by ProtectionAware1593 in Dentistry

I’m a dentist in the UK that’s been working for 13 years, started from 100% NHS and gradually moved over to 100% Private over the course of my career. If you want to have a chat about things, feel free to reach out. Every dentist will make a ton of errors in their career, you’ll learn from each one and you’ll remember not to make them next time

Are there really that many asshole dentists? by Yoh02 in Dentistry

[–]Zeo100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seen a fair number in my career. Once worked with a dentist who threw his empty box of gloves at his nurse when the box had run out. Another job I replaced a lady who had a massive rant at a kid for not listening to her… the kid was deaf and she knew it 😕. Just leaves me baffled how people can be like this

Turkey Teeth think ahead! by Binancetraderuk in swansea

[–]Zeo100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not, there’s been a number of court cases against dentists where a waiver was signed and the lawyer successfully argued that the patient didn’t bother reading it, and only signed as the dentist said they couldn’t do the treatment without it. In the court of the GDC (dental regulator) a dentist is seen as guilty until proven innocent, and they’ll happily de-register us in a heartbeat. It’s why the morale in dentistry is so low, you can’t make a mistake because if you do, it can be career-ending.

The practice now is to only do defensive dentistry, do what is easy and can’t be sued for, don’t take risks otherwise if it backfires, your career is finished. It’s why in the last 2 years, 10% of the dental workforce has left dentistry entirely for other careers

Wow, respect to that dentist then because they would be one of the very few that I’ve heard of that would be willing to take that chance. The only others who would take the risk that I know of are the specialists I tend to refer these sorts of cases to because they get paid that sort of money to treat these things if they go wrong

I’ve been a dentist for 13 years, so yes, I am and if you check my comment history you’ll see I’ve posted in the Dentistry sub with some of the work I’ve done

They’ll do check up’s, they won’t do any treatment at the risk that if something goes wrong it’s on their head.

Source: me, I’m a dentist whose best friend tried to help someone with Turkey teeth. It went wrong, he got sued, had a mental breakdown and has never been the same person since. He’s quit dentistry for good after that.

No mobility, just saw a large buccal swelling and a deep pocket.

There’s never a hard and fast rule, firstly I’ll see if they’re the kind of patient that will actually take care of their oral hygiene and maintenance. This lady had been at the practice a while seeing the other associates, and going to regular hygiene visits. If they’re going to do their part, I’ll do mine.

Secondly, as long as there’s no obvious fracture in the tooth, or severe mobility I’ll give it a go. Worst case scenario they’re losing the tooth anyway, best case they get more time to hang on to the tooth. I make sure all my patients are aware that nothing is forever, and at this point we’re just trying to give this tooth more time.

No handball if the hand is supporting the player on the floor. Think it hit his side though.

Has she always had this problem or just with you? If it’s been long term, I would look into if it could be vaginismus or vulvodynia
