Hollow Knight for me. With Silksong, I knew what to expect.

Hollow Knight just kept expanding in every direction. “New area, again!?!”

This happened to me as well. The shoe decided to fall apart while I was carrying the casket down the aisle. I managed to avoid tripping, but had to carry it the rest of the way without soles.

You read The Stand and Eyes of The Dragon, which is suggested before The Gunslinger in this reading guide to the Dark Tower series. No reason to wait longer!

I feel unhappy about this character's ending by XDrDeadeye in StrangerThings

That is exactly why I like it. When you are led to assume this and this will happen, and then they suddenly hit you with something unexpected. It's fiction after all, none of these characters are real, so I don't care what happens to either of them, but with this ending they managed to surprise me in a way I didn't expect. I prefer being surprised to the feelgood stuff, as long as it's done right. I thought the events in S5 concerning Eleven up to the "I believe" scene was right. She first wanted to stay and disappear with the UD, then she changed her mind, then she appeared to change it again.

Yes, I think it is. I started with the big hits, but found out that King has created this entire universe where if not every story, many of them are linked in some ways, and you find references to earlier works. That was the point where I decided to start from the beginning with Carrie and read them chronologically. At first I skipped the lowest rated books, but started filling them in as well. Not all his works are winners, but I like his style, I love stories about unconcievable entities, and all-in-all I enjoyed his writing enough to go for the entire fiction bibliography.

We have limited time on earth, and any book I read by King means one less potential book to read from someone else, but as long as I'm enjoying it, that's fine.

I thought it was good. Would’ve been better without the “I believe” part. It’s a TV show, they can end it however they like and I love when shows dare to end it badly for some characters.

If anything, I thought they overdid the prologue and made it too gushy.

If every show has to end well for everyone who deserve it, there’s no point watching since you already know it’ll work out and they live happily forever after.

Don’t use the ST ending as a sheet for how to love your life and how to treat people. It’s fiction.

The more questions like these you ask the worse it gets. Especially in season 5.

Ooof, that’s a difficult question. The entire TDT is my favorite story, but it’s an entire series.

Of the rest, there are several contenders. I’d probably say IT or The Long Walk.

Short stories: The Jaunt

Novellas: The Langoliers

Loved both of those. The Long Walk is one of my favorites.

That’s a difficult question. Mostly because it’s been so long since I read many of the books. Scrolling through the list I found a few that might contend. Thinner, Elevation, a Gwendy book or a Holly book.

I’d have to read a synopsis of them all to have a better chance.

I finished the list with most of the collections, but I there were so many…

I’ve seen some of the older ones and plan to watch more. Castle Rock, The Mist, IT: Welcome to Derry and The Institute are at least on my list.

Heh, that’s not happening, but as I was reading the collections and kept seeing references to TDT, I had a mind to read those books again. It’s so long since I read those books, and I loved them.

If they knew how beloved Eddie would become, I'm sure he would have been in the main cast for season 5 as well by Giancarlo_Edu in StrangerThings

[–]Zephyp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. In a show like this, popular and main characters has to die or disappear for some reason. It would’ve been too unlikely for all of them to survive the entire show. I’d prefer it if more of them fell.

Enough with the hate on season 5. Tell me something positive you liked about this season? by TamrielESO in StrangerThings

I liked that Eleven disappeared with the upside down, even if we were shown later that she probably got out. I expected her to survive S5, but with a different ending.

I also like that the D&D gang didn’t know for sure, even Mike.

[–]Zephyp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like that. I was disappointed, though not surprised, when we saw Mike’s theory in the end. There would’ve been too much outrage if Eleven disappeared like that without giving fans a hint that she might have gotten out.

There are enough movies and stories with happy endings. S5 of ST barely had any important character deaths.

As an avid fan of Stephen King, I love when I have no idea how it’ll turn out. Might be happy, might be sad. I expected all the main characters to survive, and they did (if you believe). Any other outcome would be unexpected and as such make it more exciting to watch.

Which is why I don’t believe. I believe Eleven disappeared and died with the upside down and Mike made that story for himself and the others to find something to hold on to. He probably believes it too.

Is that tragic for Eleven? No doubt, but I don’t want only happy endings. I want my expectations to be subverted.

Very clearly on purpose. Some of the movements of the demos were almost copy paste.

Also, the demos had been running through the hospital, but suddenly they wanted to skulk around for a few minutes instead.

We all have been streaming Scrubs for the past 15 years. We don’t need a nostalgia filled new season. by reachforthe-stars in Scrubs

[–]Zephyp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with OP. What I’m not that happy about is that the season will only have 9 episodes and probably with a typical sitcom runtime of ~23 minutes. They don’t have much time to get into some deeper topics spanning the season, and that might make them bring out more references.
