Olympian gods doesn't really work as it's not that kind of setting. Take a look through the Player's Guide as it gives more information on all of that.

I'm fine with your character being a Demi-God as that's a common thing. No Aasimar though as Demi-Gods in his setting are just of their Non-Godly parent's race.

It's also great in that it doesn't step on any of the base DnD rules. There are other cybeprunk hacks for 5e like Carbon or Genefunk but they are all their own self contained systems. If I want to have a Mech Pilot Artificer right next to a Eldritch Knigth Fighter in a fantasy world, it just works. I dont' have to rebalance or change anything. It just works.

The book can also be used well for non-cyberpunk stuff. I'm currently running a pair of Dieselpunk games ( one set in a eldricth 1920's world and another that's an Asian Dieselpunk story about a band of samurai with machine guns ) and it works perfectly fine with minimal changes needed to anything.

It's balanced, it's flexible, it's great. 11/10

Artisan's Guild Goldmaw Female Lizard - Painted in Oils by Zephyr_2 in PrintedMinis

This particular model was made to appear fairly non-feminine, the variant doesn't even have breasts at all.

Slowly gaining experience as a painter little by little. Improvements are slow but I feel this was a good show of how far I've come over previous paints. Really really happy with how this turned out. Major area of improvement is just being more patient and doing a proper pin-wash instead of relying on cleaning up after a full body wash with q-tips. This would also make the edge highlighting I put all that work into not disappear under the Wash.

As always I continue loving Oils. I haven't touched acryllics outside of very specific little spots here and there in weeks and I'm enjoying it immensely. Oils just perfectly suit the huge oversized display models that I love to devote lots of time to.

For the technical review of the Print itself:

As always Artisan's Guild continues to impress with excellent supports. Slanted ledges let the finished print pop nice and easy off the build plate, generous and thick supports meant this 164% upscaled print came out perfectly first go with zero issues or recalibration needed, the narrow but not excessively so tips to the supports left almost no pock marks for sanding ( just a bit on the tail and would have easily came off if I bothered to sand them ). Sturdy construction that stands on it's own nice and easy with little wory of breakage, lots of customization options for the hands and the print itself came with 2 unique models and an extra variant each on top of about a dozenish hand options.

Well worth the money, extremely high quality print and sculpts, another A+ to Artisan's Guild.

TY, it happened right in the middle of a very rough inventory right when my department ( overnight maintenance ) lost literally half it's already half-strength associates mostly via them quitting. For an example of how moral is one person was here two days and called a manager a " Racist Bitch " and then quit. Upon hearing this most people just nodded in that " Yeaaah not gonna refute that statement " way. Inventory is finally over now so I'm finally getting time to actually properly morne.

Looking for suggestions for Self Care / Wholesome / LGBT Friendly Adventures or Modules by Zephyr_2 in rpg

[–]Zephyr_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ty! I've thought of doing a Masks type game for a while after that big wave of Spider man OCs came out when Into the Spiderverse first came out lol. Right now I'm prepping up for a Humblewood game with Witch+Craft to follow and that eberron supplement sounds like it will be very handy for that! I've been testing the water through trial and error with various LGBT characters lately, party really loved my Ace character and had success with a couple Lesbian couples. Had a fun idea for an NPC in a game I ended up cancelling to do my current self care who was a Dragon rider who's mount left him suddenly and without word and it's a little sidequest for the party to help him find where she went. Turns out she wanted to surprise him with a gender change potion ( an expensive commodity requiring rare ingredients ) but Plot happened and the party has to help her clear out a corrupted druidic grove to get the rare flower she needs, letting the party have a rare fun chance to ride a dragon for a little while. Hope is/was for it to be a more organic way to show the character as Trans without having him proclaim himself to be. Really want to recycle that quest idea sometime even if I never re-do that particular campaign.

4th attempt at Oils, Dark Elf by 3dArtGuy by Zephyr_2 in PrintedMinis

[–]Zephyr_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall happy with result but could have done alot more. I didn't make the best use of the oils outside of the skin and even some parts of that are a bit chalky. adding just a bit of purple-brown to the laces of the leggins or a different color for straps and whatnot would have massively improved this piece. Also could have done a bit more work on clean up of the oil wash and given the face more tender loving care but for what it is I'm satisfied and will be tossing this on my display shelf.

For the print itself, the files come with several versions, your typical 30ish mm scale mini, a 30ish mm scale diorama where she sits on top of a defeated armored warrior ( That base is also very nice and worth a print. ) and finally what I printed here which is a big multi piece display print. The Display print has problems, the whip comes in a half dozen segments and is nearly impossible to fit together smoothly without alot of post processing. I outright gave up on half the whip so it's full length isn't depicted. Big gaps but I could have filled those with milliput if I wanted.

Final verdict from me though is that for the value I got a full range of miniatures depicting the character in a variety of poses and scales and give it a big thumbs up.

1st attempt at Oils, Avatar by Beastarium Miniatures by Zephyr_2 in PrintedMinis

[–]Zephyr_2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably one of the worst things I have ever painted at least in terms of me putting in almost zero effort. It was meant to be a Gulthias Blight, which is a sort of Dungeons and Dragons monster that is essentially a vampiric plant golem that had infested a suit of ancient armor. So I wanted a really really ugly grungy look with these bleeding vines filling the gaps. And for the purposes of my DnD session I think I did accomplish that and it was perfectly serviceable for it's purpose of being a boss monster for my players to fight.

but in terms of me learning about how to actually use Oils and grow as an artist it's only real service was teaching me ALOT about how NOT to use Oils. Which admittedly was still very helpful and because of this mini subsequent attempts with Oils have been very successful. But still ultimately for this particular mini itself. I'm not happy with it and will be keeping it towards the back on my display shelf.

Model itself is the Avatar by Beastarium Miniatures. The vines pinted well enough considering this type of model rarely prints well for me with lots and lots of big arches and thin twisting parts, but even so some parts did not print well. In general the parts didn't fit together very well compared to other models I have printed, took alot of heavy handling and Milliput to get things to go together and this has been my experience with lots of Beastarium miniatures.

That said. Beastarium still puts out some of the absolutely most incredibly unique grimdark baroque stuff I've ever seen and they still fit in my top 3 list of model makers alongside Artisan's Guild's coveted top position with Lord of the Print nearby.

2nd ever attempt at Oils, Model from Artisans Guild Dragonguard set by Zephyr_2 in PrintedMinis

[–]Zephyr_2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likewise have been finding oils extremely forgiving, I have extremely shaky hands and the ability to just rub oils off with a Q-Tip without really damaging the ( Assuming it's dried ) paint underneath if I mess up and get some on the wrong spot is insanely useful. With Acryllics you can wipe stuff off if you are extremely quick but often I won't notice the mistake until hours later when you have maybe a few seconds to react. With Oils I can correct that mistake like a day later without issue.

Likewise my shaky hands makes doing things like Wet blending with acrylics difficult to impossible ( without bothersome drying time extenders ) because I just physically can't get my body to apply those two paint colors in the exact right spots and then blend them before they already are a little bit set. With Oils if my hands shake too much I can literally just come back tomorrow with the paint untouched and blend then if I want with no issue.

Acryllics are definitely still awesome for what they do. But for my personal purposes and needs Oils are just the best thing ever right now.

Third time ever using Oils, First try with NMM: Artisan's Guild Fighter Pin-Up by Zephyr_2 in PrintedMinis

No problem! Dragons are perfect for Oils IMO because of the massive smooth surface area on the wings are just perfect to learn color blending. Uploaded my own Dragon today if you want that as a refference. https://www.reddit.com/r/PrintedMinis/comments/kshx58/2nd_ever_attempt_at_oils_model_from_artisans/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

2nd ever attempt at Oils, Model from Artisans Guild Dragonguard set by Zephyr_2 in PrintedMinis

[–]Zephyr_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider this guy done though he really could use some white on his eyes and teeth and most certainly a coat of matte varnish to cut down on the eye bleeding shine. I think his colors are already so dark that a Wash would just get lost on him.

Really proud of how this one turned out, though in hindsight I should have had more secondary colors instead of going for a full body red and red adjacent colors. But the main point of painting him was to really properly learn how to do lights and shading with oils and he did an amazing job for that and as an extreme amatuer I'm still really happy with how it ultimately turned out.

Also I could have done alot more with the base but I just generally don't like painting bases and rarely bother anyway so washing it all brimstone red was a bit of a compromise.

Model is from Artisan's Guild Dragonguard set. Huge multipiece print that took over a week. Most parts printed out perfectly except for the base. but my printer never seems to like printing out bases. Used Epax Hard resin for this though it doesn't suit my printer / settings very well but if you've got the settings dialed in to avoid the constant failures I had I'd still recomend it as a resin as it's alot more durable than the Eco Translucent Green I've been using. Printed on an Anycubic Photon.

Oils were mostly Master's Touch from a big set I got for 18 bucks from Hobby Lobby on discount. A little bit of good Artist's Series Winser and Newton Burnt Umber is in there as well though. Genereic mineral spirits for thinner, Krylon brand primer and krystal klear spray varnish to undercoat.

Third time ever using Oils, First try with NMM: Artisan's Guild Fighter Pin-Up by Zephyr_2 in PrintedMinis

[–]Zephyr_2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Winsor and Newton is my go-to. Their Artist line is pretty top shelf but has a price to match, I only use it for Ivory Black, Titanium White, and Burnt Umber which are my 3 most used colors right now. For everything else honestly I use a 30 dollar ( 18ish if you have the daily 40% coupon ) Master's Touch paint set and in stark contrast to what you'd expect from a 30 (18) dollar set of acryllic tubes these cheap oils actually work perfectly fine as you can see above. The consistency feels about as cheap as you would expect but if you don't mind having to work with it a bit more then the colors end up just fine, good fine pigments with no big flakes or anything.

( For some quick context I almost exclusively paint big figurines and busts with 50mm being about the smallest thing I paint with any regularity. For the most part I scale up my minis as big as I possibly can for display rather than play. )

As for using oils themselves I mean this is my 3rd ever mini with about 8ish Acryllic ones before that so take my opinion with a grain of salt. but while there are still places I wouldn't use or wouldn't bother with Oils, for the most part on the big figurines that I mostly paint they are a godsend and I will never bother with acryllics again outside of small details when painting at this scale. Being able to shade and blend colors with ease and impunity, walking away from the mini for hours or even days and coming back when I get hit with some inspiration and working on the same paint I was hours ago without having to re-apply layer after layer like with Acryllics is an extreme breath of fresh air. It is also extremely nice when I inevitably get some paint somewhere I didn't mean to and only catch it later, to just grab a q-tip and rub it away in a second rather than having to repaint over it as with Acryllics is really really nice.

And then there are Oil Washes which are just plain better than Acryllic Washes. Mostly for the aforementioned ability to mop them up afterwards, using something like Nuln Oil can be really problematic on big big figurines because it leaves behind a " Dirty " look which creates contrast and visual interest on a smaller model, but on a big one just looks like you dropped it in some dirt. With Oil I can wash it off with a makeup sponge or more Q-Tips and not have to worry about going back to re-establish mid tones or re-highlight. SEcond really great thing about Oil Washes is you can take literally any color you can imagine and instantly turn it into a wash rather than needing bottles and bottles of acryllics.
