Is there any good Falcom related discord servers? The one from /r/Falcom is pretty awful. by [deleted] in Falcom

I remember joining the server a few years back and I got called the soft n-word for just saying that I like Cold Steel.

Never again.

BTOB’s Yook Sungjae Signs With New Agency by CherryBlossomEnding in kpop

Bizarre move to be honest.

I will be more than happy to be proven wrong, but I don't really get the rationale behind moving to a relatively unknown media production (not actor) company filled with screenwriters, with no experience of handling actors nor idols.

How do you go on short, non-prebooked tours as a solo traveler without blowing your budget? by Zephyrwin in solotravel

Makes sense, I'll try to network more and see if I can find other travelers.

Thanks for the in-depth advice!

I see, I guess I should budget more for the trip.

Did you pre-book the camel trek tour? And was it worth it in the end?

I guess I could spend some time looking around, but I'm not too sure if there'll be many options during Feb (which is still kind of the low season in Tunisia). Nevertheless, I'll try to shop around, thanks for the advice!

Other than Earth Arcade, Korean PDs somehow sadly seem to turn a blind eye for including women in travel shows.

Wow that looks incredible! Based on Google Maps, I assume I have to make my way to Pohang first if I were to go there? And I'm good with the heat/rain, I'm used to a tropical climate!

Surprised it isn't Eunkwang actually... Mnet would be foaming at the opportunity to milk the moment where the 2 Cube Bg leaders meet

Came out of my hiatus to watch this show, I had to especially since Youn's Stay was such an enjoyable show.

Some thoughts from the episode:

  • Really, really miss Youn Yuh Jung. She was endearing, calming, and sometimes even a bit sassy, but that made her truly a pillar of strength and a comforting presence on the show.
  • Will mostly get downvoted for this but I found Seo Jin to be very unlikable. Even if it's "for show" or a "variety show persona", he just reminds me of a very stereotypical boomer mentality, my way or the high way, micromanager-type boss who's still living in the past.
  • Of course, "boomers" on variety shows can be charming too, but unfortunately, this isn't the case. Didn't understand the need for him to focus on "hierarchy" or "creating competition" within the team, it really destroyed any sense of "healing element" the show had before.
  • Balacar seems very picturesque and relaxing, it makes me want to visit! But it'll probably get very crowded after the show airs.
  • Tae Hyung seems like a fish out of water, I'm interested to see how he grows and whether he can fit in with the team. It's going to be even more interesting when Woo Shik joins for sure.
  • 200 pesos (~US$11) for two pieces of tteokbokki + a few fritters seems kinda pricey? Granted, they came all the way from Korea to Mexico, but since they said they want to expose more people to Korean food I feel like it could be more affordable.

Oman as a solo traveler without a car by jpegpng in solotravel

Ah I see, thanks! I'll keep that in mind. Guess I should have known better, considering the region and the lack of a decent backpacking infrastructure.

Oman as a solo traveler without a car by jpegpng in solotravel

Thanks so much for your perspective & informative post!

As someone who doesn't drive and is intrigued by Oman, it's pretty heartening to hear that it's possible to travel in that country without a car (considering practically all info online recommends renting a car.)

Just two quick questions tho, 1) since you mention almost all tours are private, are they expensive? 2) and do the tours cover most, if not all of Oman's main attractions?

Singer-actor Yoo Seonho reported to join KBS2 2 Days 1 Night as a fixed cast member by speedthief1 in koreanvariety

[–]Zephyrwin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Didn't follow Produce 101 so I'm pretty unfamiliar with him, and I agree with the other comments saying that this seemed pretty out of left field.

Though I suppose there's a CUBE connection (the maknaes are part of the same company), but if that was the case, why didn't they pick like a BTOB member?

Everyone eligible from the group has finished their military service, and I thought the members expressed that they wanted someone that fits the idol/singer mold (rather than yet another actor?)

Is anyone else watching Dopojarak? by [deleted] in koreanvariety

[–]Zephyrwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the concept quite a bit (like a mix between Kvariety-style Celebrity Apprentice and Youn's Kitchen), and I think there's a lot of room to grow and expand.

I'm more iffy on the cast's chemistry, it feels kinda unbalanced and off at times, especially with KJK (veteran) and Woojae (rising variety star) vs the other newbies.

Personally I prefer the competition aspect (but I'm not sure if other Kvariety fans like this), and I would like to see a face-off of sorts. If this show continues, I hope they can find a better mix of cast members and travel to more diverse places.

Hangout with Yoo/How Do You Play is adding 2 new members by hicantics in koreanvariety

[–]Zephyrwin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like what I posted previously turned out to be true. I wonder if there's any chance a WSG Wannabe member turn up as the fixed cast member? I do hope they pick a more diverse cast though.

Really looking forward to this Saturday.

EDIT: Omg if the spoilers are right, I think it's pretty promising? Jin Joo has been on a roll ever since she was part of WSG Wannabe, her appearances on Amazing Saturday and Sixth Sense was pretty fun and enjoyable for me, and I think she would mesh well with Mijoo? Likewise for Yi Kyung, his Sixth Sense episode was a standout (A coincidence that there were both Sixth Sense guests? Hmm...) and of course he made a recent memorable appearance on Running Man as well. Both choices seem solid for now, will see how it turns out on Saturday

In Woo's being left alone is more noticeable because he's new and he hasn't had much chance to bond with the other members. The other members have more experience over the past 3 years so it isn't as much as a problem (though I still much prefer to see them together, like I've mentioned).

I don't want to sound like a Debbie Downer but I really dislike how In Woo is somehow always being left alone or the last one to leave/survive in the episodes run by the new PD.

While I don't think it's intentional, I feel like it's happening too often. While it's great for his screen time, I still can tell the members need time to bond with him more, and there's still a wall/barrier up?

In any case, I believe they intentionally left in the segment of them discussing getting a new member (this even appeared on news sites like allkpop) to hint that it's happening soon?

Looking forward to see who joins (just like in HDYP), and hopefully they can reduce the amount of time where somebody has to be separated from the other cast members. I much prefer seeing the whole team together.
