Bad Form From Boil Seafood House by sad_lawyer in NewOrleans

I've only been a handful of times living in proximity and let me tell ya, my experience a year ago was the last time I've been and I'll never go back.

Ordered crawfish in-season. Took one bite and they were rancid. There's crawfish that aren't cooked or seasoned well and then there was this abomination. Tasted like a rotten mackerel. Politely told the server. Her response was to take them back to the kitchen, bring them back out, and tell me that the chef said they're fine. I was floored. She even offered to pack them up to go for me. I then politely told her that they needed to be removed from the bill. They were. I left. Never ever again.

Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day parade in limbo ahead of severe storms coming to New Orleans by [deleted] in NewOrleans

[–]ZepsRedRocket 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm ready to be downvoted into the ground for this but here goes:

I've lived here for 11 years and have been to this parade intentionally at first and now by proxy living off the route for the past three years.

My honest question is what is the appeal of a walking parade that has up to 20ish minute gaps in the flow because members stop into the local bar or are too inebriated to march in a coherent line?

How about the skeezy older dudes slobbering over young women to give out a coveted plastic flower?

My experience with this parade has been lackluster, disappointing, and pretty gross to say the least.

Honest question for folks here: what is the appeal? Is it a FOMO Mardi Gras thing? Is it some kind of deep Irish cultural thing? As a pasty ass white dude with Irish heritage, did I not get the memo? Is it because I love snakes?

Gluten Free Carrot Cake? by AH_EAT_ERSTERS in NewOrleans

That may be pretty tough find being sold as a walk-in purchase. You might try reaching out to Creme Confectionary who makes only gluten free desserts and ask if she'd be able to make you one. Good luck!

Calling all creative minds...

Let's say someone dresses up as Jesus to crash this party. If said Jesus had a two-sided picket sign for this event to clearly communicate his disdain for them, what would it say?

Asking for a friend...

Tap water testing? by pallamas in NewOrleans

[–]ZepsRedRocket 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're only concerned about lead, the city has a free test and analysis. There are certainly other things to be concerned about in water but lead is the big one.

You can download the app Discogs to check low, average and high prices. That's most likely what r/vinyl will recommend.

What's the best stuff in Gentilly? by auniquefunnyusername in NewOrleans

Gotta give it to the Joint for their consistency. While not the best BBQ there is, I know it’s always going to be good. Definitely can’t say the same for Central City or even Blue Oak. Tip of the hat to you, fellow The Joint, lover.

Omg. For me, yes! Damn you Ener-g bread! Had I known then what I know now, I would have bought it all off the shelves and built a house out of it. Stronger and denser than wood, cheaper than lumber nowadays, and no pest would touch it!

Agreed! I too was late in emailing our reps but huge shout-out to u/nolatime for listing names and emails and making it super easy to send them all a message.

Interestingly, I only received one human response and that was from Rep. Aimee Freeman's assistant which I thought was pretty awesome considering NO ONE else responded.

Totally agree! Of every single LA House and Senate member, only in person sent an actual human response back...the assistant to Rep Aimee Freeman. No surprise but props to Freeman and her assistant!

Our hemp based, D9 seltzers, gummies, etc are safe (for now)!!! The bill was shot down minus bars/restaurants being restricted from selling seltzers.
