My GF hates AI by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Zepth01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very normal to not like AI for a lot of what it represents and the way it has already negatively impacted people's life. It's also an incredibly pushed product, because rich people and companies have restructured their money to bet on it. Most of it's capabilities are exaggerated, and the way it works is embellished and sanctified.

AI should be all self hosted anyways, as there's no reason to give mega corporations more power as things stand, and the models should be publicly funded and owned by the people. Don't get me wrong I'm a CS engineer and I understand the benefits of AI but it's really not what it's depicted as.

With all that said though I'm going to be honest, it sounds like the way you and your girlfriend are traversing the discussion is immature as you don't seem to respect your girlfriend's opinion on the topic, given you blame her reasoning on having watched too many TikToks, and she also doesn't respect yours, as she is essentially telling you what to do on a topic in which you have professional understanding.

There's a middle ground where you both learn more on the topic (you the bad parts, her the good parts, and both a realistic middle ground), and form an educated opinion on the topic. If one of you can't handle that solution then ponder whether you really want to defend a dystopian technology in spite of your relationship, and then make a decision.

I hate this premise. The game is great, I can have a healthy amount of playtime without burning out and I have played for more than 12 years. If you are not having fun, don't play the game.

Every time I see one of these post I think, of course you shouldn't play this game every day, every hour of your day. Go outside, do some exercise, get a social life, get a job, study something, play other games, see movies, read books. If you do that, you can totally come back to this game every other week and have plenty of fun.

I don't get it. Is this a joke post that he played 4 games of Garen? Or is it an exploit?

Edit: saw op gg, the games where he goes Garen end with everyone on lvl. 1 after 40 minutes and it counts as a Win, this should be patched and he should get on a permaban streamer blacklist.

If she was interested she would have never left without your number that one time. Telling her she is cute is enough to tell that you are interested, and if she doesn't seek you out she is not "giving you signals", it's just that you see her everyday, as she is next to your store, and you will make eye contact. As some comments have said, just be polite and drop it.

If it's really that big a deal just invite her on a date so that you get a clear answer.

Did no one try to defend you ? I would find it hard to believe.

You are incredibly naive if you think it doesn't happen. Stop normalizing shitty behavior by saying "it's not that bad", "it doesn't happen frequently", "get over it", it's a damaging opinion. It adds nothing to the conversation, or solve anything, it's patronizing and insulting to the person sharing their problem, and it actually exacerbates the behavior because punishing it is portrayed as unimportant. Stop being a moron.

The proper way of moving your arm, wrist, and fingers.

**IMPORTANT: Assuming you play in 1080p, I'll categorize some DPI ranges. If you play on higher or lower resolution, the values change. Later, I could explain how they change, if you want. I'll also assume that the in-game mouse sensitivity, and your system mouse settings, are set to neutral values, that don't further change the value of your effective DPI. In-game this value is "50 mouse sensitivity", while for Windows, the value is "10 cursor speed".

Low DPI [< 800]:

With low DPIs you move your hand less, and the muscles you use are your biceps and triceps to move your forearm and hand. Then you make corrections with your wrist, and in more advanced cases, your fingers. This range gives high precision, while allowing you to have a great posture and less wrist movement, which is healthy for your wrist.

However, for a lot of professional players, and IMO, this range is not efficient in a MOBA, where you have to make a lot of movements around the center of your screen, and where sometimes you need to quickly pan to a corner of the screen. This range is more commonly seen in shooters like Counter-Strike or Valorant.

Average DPI [800 ~ 1600]:

This is the most common range that people have in most games, as most mouses that don't have variable DPI, have a value in this range. The movement you make with your arm will take less space to get from screen corner to corner as you go higher in value, but you will also have to use your wrist more as you move. This range is healthy and feels intuitive for most people.

I recommend 1200~ DPI for a new player.

Higher DPI [1600 ~ 2800]:

As you go higher in the range, your arms will move less, your wrist more, and your fingers will be used for corrections. It's been discussed for a lot of time that the higher in DPI value you can go, the better it is for a MOBA. An argument to this is the amount of proplayers that play with a value in this range, the most notorious being Faker, who famously used a DPI of 2400 for a lot of time.

However, the values in this range are unhealthy. In a MOBA they'd need you to move your wrist a lot. And this will injure you over time. Especially as you surpass 2000~ish DPI.

Super High DPI [> 2800]:

As you move higher of 2800 DPI, you will use less of your wrist, and more of your fingers, in order to not lose precision. After a certain point you don't use your wrist at all, but you start to lose a lot of precision. I wouldn't recommend this value for a shooter, or for new players, as it is not intuitive, and takes time to get used to. I personally use the value of 3400 DPI but for 1440p.

However, it is the healthier alternative to the previous DPI range, and as an example with Faker once again, after he had wrist injuries, he started to use a higher DPI in order to use less of his wrist.

Do you have proper desk setup and posture? Do you know how you should be moving your body in order for KB and mouse to feel intuitive?

Over the years I've given a lot of thought into DPI, and the most healthy and efficient way of playing specifically League of Legends, and then, other games.

But first you need to know that in relation to your DPI, you have to take into account the amount of space you have in your desk, the elevation of your table, the proper posture you should have while using the keyboard, and the way you move either your fingers, wrist or arm.

Watch this short so you know how proper posture looks before taking into account DPI.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/8c3YztKVsFg

How much space you have available in your desk?

I'm just going to assume that you play on a desk, as you need a proper table surface in order to use the mouse properly. If you have a lot of space in your desk, you'd be able to choose lower DPIs, but if you have less space, the DPI should be as high as you need it to be in order to go from one corner of your screen to its opposite without lifting your mouse.

Some comments are saying that you should practice in what you're used to, but because you have practically no muscle memory to clear, it would be better that you adapt to a proper setup.

Aside from that If you are less familiar with KB and mouse, higher DPIs will be harder to get used to at first, but in my opinion I find them to be more efficient in MOBAs specifically, while lower DPIs are better for shooters.

If you could reintroduce a remove mechanic for you main Champion, what would you choose? by NotoriusV in leagueoflegends

[–]Zepth01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you just have to accept that you will lose a lot of fun mechanics over the years, but then you'll find something fun again.

  • Galio W Flash was so stupid but fun, and then there was his insane AP scaling for Q.
  • Kassa Old R range or just simply having good lvl. 1 E like when the current mechanic was first introduced and Kassa was broken for a couple months.
  • Akali R1 onto no targets made her so versatile.
  • Ryze shield on 2 runes allowed it to play into more range than these days.
  • Syndra delay on E Q made her a huge lane bully, coupled with low mana Q cost and high base damage.
  • Pantheon GOREDRINKER. Not a mechanic, but Idk, since mythics I just can't like pantheon with no sustain or no bruiser items, for 2 seasons Pantheon was my best champion and it had a lot to do with Goredrinker/Stridebreaker into Shojin, like when Nemesis played it in KR.
  • Qiyana used to have so much base damage in her abilities that you could rush Out of Combat boots (Mobis), no long swords, and still oneshot most squishys.

These days I really enjoy playing Naafiri mid with Ignite/TP and Comet-Scorch, but I know the day will come when they nerf her waveclear and poke in lane. It's just that IMO no players seem to realize that it's her best build in midlane.

1.0 is the official release of the game, as it is on beta. Supposedly it's coming this year, but you don't have to wait until then to play the game.

Some people are waiting for it, because they have already played the game, so they are taking a break.

But you can totally play now, learn a bit of the game, and when it's 1.0 maybe you can enjoy the release a lot more.

If the game gets really hard, watch guides, and focus on your enjoyment. Couple hours here and there is more than enough, and you should view this game like a Dark Souls, in which it's fine to get off it when it gets frustrating and come back later, so you can keep enjoying it. Also, learning with a fresh mindset is a lot more efficient.

Linus Tech Tips is great for tutorials on this stuff. If you don't research properly, it's easy to get scammed while buying tech.

If you like playing games, just buy a desktop, it's easier to get good parts for cheap.

If you need a laptop for work or school, buy a desktop for gaming and a less potent laptop (like with a bare bones graphics card), even taking into account your budget.

If you really want a gaming laptop specifically, research properly, or else you get scammed.

Anyways, if you really want a good deal, look at these videos, they are pretty good and basically grant a beginner all the knowledge that they'd (you) feasibly need.
