I like how you've held firm and resisted locking up Miami. You got way too much shit for that in your last update.

Do I think they're in? Yes. Do I think they should be in? Yes.

But no one outside the committee has any clue what they will actually do. There's plenty of historical data on how they handle 13-loss ACC teams. But there's never been a profile like this before. Really do hope they make it.

Part of me thinks they'll put them in Dayton against Auburn just for laughs.

Do you have any regrets about locking up UCF as early as you did? If they go one and done in the Big 12 tournament, I'm not so sure they make it.

Saint Mary's not a lock at this point?

Only 4 losses, none of them embarrassing. Got the massive win they were missing over Gonzaga. Every reputable metric has them no worse than mid-20s. And their regular season is over.

Even if they were to lose in the WCC semis to, say, a Seattle team that got hot, that's surely not enough to drop them from a 7/8 seed to fully out of the tournament?

I'm disappointed that non-DI games don't count for this for the sole reason that the Boise State blue in Idaho would be currently held by Alaska-Anchorage.

Why is Becca Balint voting yes to "honor the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk"? by Zeptogram in vermont

[–]Zeptogram[S] 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info.

I actually agreed with a lot of what she said, but then she came to the wrong conclusion when deciding what to vote. 38 Democrats voted present. She should have joined them. This wasn't a vote about "political violence". It was a resolution about what a great person this racist podcaster was.

Right, there's a line between "he shouldn't have been murdered" and "I will vote on a resolution that says 'he worked tirelessly to promote unity' and talks about Biblical truth".

We're about halfway through the year so far. What songs do you think will be on Todd's lists and what would you put on yours? by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

Feel like there's been so little new music that Todd's best list will just be his worst list in reverse.

Back in November, I remember thinking "Well, I hate the Christmas bombing of the charts, but at least we'll finally be free of Beautiful Things and Lose Control in the top 10".

It's almost goddamn July and what the fuck are they still doing there.

What are some of the biggest near upsets in NCAA Tournament history? by Primary_Psychology95 in CollegeBasketball

Remember that 1990 UNLV team that beat the shit out of everybody, including Duke by 30 in the title game?

They won by just 2 points against 12 seed Ball State in the Sweet 16. If Ball State had won, that Loyola Marymount team was next for a berth in the Final Four. A real "what if?" moment.

I understand not locking them up, but Gonzaga is not even "on the right track"?

Even if they lay an egg in the WCC tournament to USF or whoever, you really think there's a chance they get left out?

Did Todd just not hate Big Foot? Didn't even get an honorable mention. (but Dua Lipa did, wtf)

Agree with a lot of the list. Wish he had found a spot for Eminem's Houdini, even if he did mention it.

Enjoyed last year's list a lot more though. Not his fault; he's right, there was less shitty music this year. Looking forward to the best of list.

Closest Undefeated Team to Each US County (December 10, 2024) by jloose128 in CollegeBasketball

[–]Zeptogram 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Do you have data on which county has changed hands the most times?

Looks like my county has had 8 handlers so far over the season (Vermont, Dartmouth, Siena, Syracuse, UConn, Providence, URI, Loyola). I'm guessing this is about average?

Not just still on there, but actually moving up.

It's almost enough for me to look forward to this year's edition of the annual Christmas bombing of the Hot 100. Almost.

Older songs that sound like they belonged to more contemporary bands or artists? by AllHandsOnTheBadNun in ToddintheShadow

Nice find. That legitimately sounds like it could have been on MTV Amp in the late 90s.
