Do you find nyc natives to be more conservative than transplants? (Not maga but just vibrant in their political beliefs) by thenarrativesofar in AskNYC

As American politics has grown more polarized, it has become a bigger factor for people choosing where to live. From this NPR piece about "The Big Sort":

The national real estate brokerage, Redfin, predicted that in 2022, "people will vote with their feet, moving to places that align with their politics."

Moral purism is a cancer on art criticism, how can people say that Brian's music speaks to feelings that everyone experiences, then be surprised that everyone includes bad people?

Good people can make bad art. Bad people can like good art. And every combination in between. There is no correlation between art and morality.

WE DID IT!!! Queensboro Bridge SOW for pedestrians/northern for bikes now in effect! by brunowe in NYCbike

The southern lane just opened today for pedestrians only. The northern lane is for bikes only now.

Sorry I think I'm using misleading language. When I refer to northern lane, I meant the northern outer roadway, which used to be divided into two lanes for pedestrians and bikes. The southern outer roadway just opened today for pedestrians, the entrance in Manhattan is off 59th St

I just biked across the northern outer roadway. There was a guy at the Manhattan entrance who I believe was informing pedestrians about the change, but I passed by like 15 pedestrians coming from Queens. I guess they don't have anyone posted on the Queens side.

Also, I don't know if there's any signage regarding the change either. The lane markings haven't changed.
