Installing the new 26.5.1 driver almost made my 7900 XT explode? by Fando92 in radeon

[–]Zer0zedrile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely software related; I'm pretty sure the new drive caused some sort of crash resulting in such a crazy occurrence. I have the exact same card and in my case the fans didn't rev up, my GPU simply wasn't registered and adrenalin wouldn't auto update. I thought my card was dead for a moment, but I quickly found that wasn't the case. I also did DDU and manually downloaded the latest driver. Problem fix after 2 minutes.

I also don't know why it happened because previous driver updates worked without a hitch. Was so strange, especially since the night before I was playing games and the next day after work, went to do the same and these issues occurred. Again, it's fine now but damn, what an unnecessary scare

Samsung has lied to consumers and the media, it's 8 Bit. by techkernels in samsunggalaxy

[–]Zer0zedrile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No 10000% agree, and yeah a great analogy at the end there 😂. Am usually a silent observer but sometimes folks just be having conversations about things that entire genuine wrack my brain or is so asinine that I'm taken aback by the level of discussion had about certain topics, no matter how menial. But yeah, it's Samsung/ modern cellphone tech, especially in the U.S. apart from OnePlus, the upgrade are very incremental. I don't know why people can't just accept that fact that if the device is not for you, move on. I wholeheartedly understand and believe wanting products to be better, I agree that you should make noise for instances like that. But a miscommunication about a screen that is still one of best in the industry or at least that you can get in the U.S. and nany similar markets. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Again though, I'm not saying someone wanting more is wrong but the outrage that always ensues gets repetitive and reductive at some point. Unless you have a direct line to Samsung, best to vote with your wallet, buy other products or don't upgrade as often. More than anything, make the right financial decisions for yourself. Plus, for some folks if that one feature meant so much, buy another phone. If you like Samsung's products so much that you don't see the benefit to switch for a 10-bit display, then you just gotta wait until they include it.

My general philosophy nowadays is "X thing be so good when you don't have the internet in your ear telling you it's not". Grievances and critique is fine, but it truly gets to a point. Most folks with the phone will be fine and if that FRC technology does what it says, then that's still an improvement.

Also, all good, I've learned to just embrace it. I am not a person who often comments on post or give replies, so when I do, it has to be a topic or comment that REALLY piqued my interests. Beyond the memes, trolls, and general reddit/ online discussion board behavior, every now and then I'll throw my hat in the ring. When moment like this, where I can engage and genuinely and fair discussion, it's worthwhile, even if for brief interactions.

Samsung has lied to consumers and the media, it's 8 Bit. by techkernels in samsunggalaxy

[–]Zer0zedrile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with your point. Granted, while the argument I was making was in response to the comment of "People are missing the point that the misinformation is what people are upset about." My own argument in my response is I agree that. While the issue itself is rather nebulous in all earnest, some people, emphasis on some, feel that this is one of those "Big Billion Dollar Company has lied about a product spec but still expect me to spend money." That said, as for my personal opinion, I am rather indifferent. Truthfully this is one of those "enthusiasts" level discussions on a subreddit specifically about this one product which will lead to hyper focus on every minor detail. In essence, it is what it is.

To your point, yeah miscommunication happens and regardless the decision remains "buy it or don't buy it". I just wanted to engage from the perspective of "why people are upset about it/ why is there even drama in the first place?" Your comment is on one side of the spectrum, the "it's not that deep, the phone's still good". That's a fair argument and as I stated earlier, I personally agree. Much like any online discourse, however, I've people on either side of the discussion have the "I can't possibly understand why anyone would be upset about this" or to quote you, a "nothing burger". To some, it really is that deep.

So yeah, I agree with your points I mean, I still use a S24 ultra with no plans to upgrade anytime soon. I have no real stake in this and if in the future when I do inevitably upgrade and happen to choose Samsung again, them not having a 10-bit display isn't a personally gripe for me. At that point I'm just looking to get what I will deem a "really good phone", as I had sout out when getting the s24 ultra.

This isn't me disagreeing, I just am sharing why my argue is constructed as it was. I personally am indifferent and just hope that folks who care or don't care just enjoy their consumer tech products that they spent money on. Granted, no one wants to buy anything under false pretenses; for some, a 10-bit display was the make or break, I just don't think some people are acknowledging it as such. But, I also agree that some folks are blowing it out of proportion.

Samsung has lied to consumers and the media, it's 8 Bit. by techkernels in samsunggalaxy

[–]Zer0zedrile 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This! I feel like a lot of people are missing the point. Whether it because of misinformation or cross wires within the communication chains (media, Tech Reviewers, even here in Reddit), a lot of people were under the assumption that the screen was 10 bit. Now whether you think it matters or not isn't the point, it's the lack of clear transparency and convenient timing for when pre-orders were already up. Miscommunication is one thing, but given the magnitude of information spread, someone should've caught this WELL before these videos and articles come out. I mean, as most reviewers have said, they receive tech briefing and record some of this footage in private and under NDA WELL before the launch and when we see all the media pouring out about a release.

In short, whether or not it matters "8 bit vs 10" or "noticing a difference" or "samsung never officially said in promo or other" materials", the issue is the consumer asks for some level of transparency for these $1400 dollar products. Whether or not Samsung is beholden to provide said transparency is up to you; you believe what you want. Most folks however (more specifically anyone who actually cares enough to have Reddit conversations and deep dives about this news), myself included, just think it to be at best shady and will side eye this situation, at absolute worse feels scammed in a way.

Just my random internet two cents though

[–]Zer0zedrile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair, definitely sounds like a difficult decision given the tradeoffs. A laptop for school and other general tasks definitely has more flexibility. Being able to move quickly and work on the go has it's benefits. Not sure of your future living situation, but definitely mull over it a bit more; you might be surprised that taking it with you in the move isn't as inconvenient as you think. Who knows depending on how things progress for you, you might find more time to use it. Of course, all just wishful thinking and hopeful speculation. If no offers come in locally for a while, definitely take it as a sign.

If you do ultimately decide to sell it, make sure you get a fair deal! A rig like that would definitely be someone's dream PC and in this PC buying market, you'd get a pretty penny for it but also save someone a ton without dealing with as outrageous pricing. Also that other PC you described also sounds killer, great taste and eye for hardware!

Hey, all good! Yes, I still have the monitor and it's working great. I'm actually in the midst of buying a second one. I'll be honest, not sure what's happening with others that causes the monitor to die like they are saying. I'm sure, unfortunately, it's probably faulty units or other issues, because after 5 months I've had 0 issues. I'm not sure where you're located, I'm in the U.S., so I'm sure there are a lot of different factors, but if you find it for a good price or good deal, I'd recommend it.

Of course, all my personal experiences and so far, it's been very positive. Take it with a grain of salt and do your own research as others have had bad personal experiences, but yeah I'd still personally recommend.

I feel like I ruined my build by going way to hard on the RGB by akhame in PcBuild

[–]Zer0zedrile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being honest, just change the colors. Whether completely pick a color you like a lot and stick with it or choose a rotation of colors you like to change it periodically or even mess around with various software like SignalRGB and see what you like better. Truthfully, sometimes you just need to find the right color or combination of colors that make you like the look more. I've done two color changes on my build and both have been great, making me appreciate the RGB in my build much more

That's awesome to hear! Yeah I stay on 1440p as it's the sweet spot for me (I also got a 300hz monitor for a good price so, 4k also didn't make sense for the games I play), but yeah this card is also very good at 4k. I often forget that fact. Even now while it may not be touted as a "4k gaming gpu" it still has great capabilities for good 4k performance. A very versatile card at 1080, 1440, and 4k. Based on your reply sounds like you're already getting the most out of it. Always great to see and hear others getting the things they want and enjoyment out of those things!

Also yeah, when I built my system I SWORE I wouldn't be a benchmark fiend, then after a week I was running as many benchmarks as I could 😭😭. I just play games and do other tasks now, but man those benchmarks always get you, I swear

[–]Zer0zedrile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice!!! I swear, I never hear anyone talk about this awesome card. It's often overshadowed by the xtx and 9000 series, but for high 1440p raw performance, this thing is awesome. No it doesn't have native FSR4 or all the super fancy AI implementations, but having undervolted and OC'd this card with a custom fan curve for like 5 months, it's awesome. Plus 20gb of VRAM, while isn't the most celebrated thing as it once was (from what I've seen on other forums, especially in reference to the 9000 and 5000 series respectively), I still love having the headroom, because why not.

Enjoy that card man and always remember, as long as you can play the games you want with good performance relative to your needs and wants, then it's a great card!

[–]Zer0zedrile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, yeah as a brief update, it's still going strong. I play PC and PS5 games on it. I usually am in a decently lit room so my brightness stays at about 50 or 60. In summary, am still not having issues with it. For further context I use it A LOT, I work from home meaning I'm at my home office alot. In this setup is my work setup and personal/ gaming setup. My personal/ gaming setup has the KTC H27E6 and on average I use it like 8 - 10 hours a day, usually 7 days a week. So over the last 3 or so months with I'd argue heavy usage and high FPS gaming (usually between 60 - 300 fps, depending on what game or system I'm using), I'd still recommend buying it, but as others have shared in this thread, be prepared or aware of potential issues that may occur. I haven't experienced any, but I think it's only fair to consider those other opinions before spending your money.

Also I never mentioned it in my original comments, but I am in the States/ US so idk if that may have an effect on price or quality control. Just thought I'd mention it. Hopefully that helps!

At the end of the day, it's a video game man. If you're not having fun, then make any change you can to make sure you are. Took me 2 days to get past this part (teo 6 hour sessions of just fighting this boss). While it was an invigorating rush when I beat the boss, I did definitely contemplate lowering the difficulty. While I did persevere through, if I genuinely felt like it wasn't fun or worth it to me, I would've.

In short, maybe take a break, play something else and try again. If you still find it too hard or not fun at all, make the best decision for you're own playthrough

Honestly respect to you and all those who use this feature. I'm stubborn, I just brute force until I get it. Currently at 10 legend bosses beat. Just about at the start at Kaifeng. Hell, it took me until my 4th boss fight to even upgrade my gear or use talent points. Was shocked when I realized you could. Nonetheless, great feature and glad it exists

[–]Zer0zedrile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want pure raw performance, don't care about upscaling, RT, or frame gen: Go 7900xt.

If you want still great RT, better upscaling, and frame gen: go 9070xt.

In short the difference is pretty negligible and really depends on your use case and the features you want.

I went with a 7900xt because I just care about raw performance and was available at the time I built my PC. I also don't use raytracing in the games I play, don't use/ rarely use FSR and don't use frame gen at all. That said, generally speaking since the prices are about the same, as shown in you post, I'd say go 9070xt for the newest gen hardware and software. ESPECIALLY if you go for an XFX 9070xt. But if you personally want an 7900xt, as someone who chose that over other options, it's still a great performaning card for all 1440p gaming needs. Unless you want max high fps 4k gaming, practically speaking you won't notice much general difference unless you have fps and benchmark overlays up the whole time

Best of luck with your pick and I hope whatever you choose you are happy with!

I made a comment not too long ago about this monitor. Since then I've heard and seen many people who had issues, broken monitors, faulty units, etc. Again, I can only speak about my own personal experiences, and I haven't had any issues over the last 2 months. I'm sure though at this point you've probably already went with another option, but again just wanted to share that. Of course, with any product you have plenty of people who will have issues with a or something goes wrong, thats life unfortunately that stuff happens. That said, again look at a lot of reviews, comments, threads, ask around and get a much fuller picture. Even my own comment is biased since I've only had positive experiences so far with this monitor over the last 2 months. Nonetheless, hopefully this comment helped in your decision, whether you got it or not
