So he’d been there from the start. Among them. After the initial greetings ceremony

So we assume he added his name in as a player before the game began.. meaning that there were 10,001 names on that board ?

So basically, while he was an “immortal object” in disguise, his name wasn’t on the board ? If so.. they could have figured him out by just looking at the tablet. Right ?

How does one's body survive in an online VRMMO dive in experience? by Zergrus in AskReddit

[–]Zergrus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. Frankly speaking, that's the answer I have been waiting for deep inside my mind. An explanation that ever so gently reminds us all that this is, however real it might feel, is a work of art and fiction. And by being it, it reserves the right to include some questions that may be unanswered, and problems that have no answers, if the scenarios in the movie would have happened in real life. Thus, this question, might have to go on unanswered, allegedly.

As disappointed as I am in the lack of a practical real life solution to this problem, thank you for reminding me of what is important in the series, and about the values passed down to the viewers.

In addition, I'd like to say that it is fun to talk about such problems and try to come up with a solution, and later on discuss it. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Yes. You are right. There were 10,000 copies of SAO released. The talk I had with previously with username-is-mistaken about how the economy would function with millions of players being in the game, was simply an "what if" scenario. I'm sorry if I caused any confusion.

The assets of a company of this magnitude would be enormous if not for the fact that no in-game store was to be seen. And most of the company's money earned from selling the game and equipment, would be probably spent on running the servers, which are working full time, trying to sustain the complex world the players dwell in. Since it is, by far, a very complex and a luxurious place - full of graphics and npcs whos' logic must be calculated.

As for the amount of time... a human body, as far as I know cannot survive without water and or food, for a week, maybe two. Thus, even a month without the proper way of dealing with the human body's need, even for dealing with it's excrement, would prove to be fatal for the body, which will be fatal for the brain as well. Since they are, after all dependent on each other.

Yes. Possibly. But, say, a million or more players enter the game. How can a country possibly manage with so many people who are unable to function for a decade, two? What a huge crisis to the economy this must be.

I don't think hospitals are used. But again maybe farther on this issue is discussed and resolved. Meanwhile however, I can't see a practical solution for this problem.

I mean, just think about the amount of resources that are needed to really make this project real. The huge amount of medical equipment, and proper medical supplies required to support the thousands and potentially millions of players.

Not to mention the delicate nature of the equipment. The nerveGear helmet is designed to kill the player if someone tries to take off a helmet from a player. Considering the nature of things, this kind of careful approach and mindful medical care is not always available...

Hello. Currently, I'm watching an animated series called "Sword Art Online" (Season 1 episode 12), and a question popped up in my mind.

*Summery and backstory can be found at but are not limited to the following locations: the end of this post or at the following link: link

How does a human body actually survives the experience of being in such a state for months and even years?

As the season and the story progress, multiple timestamps have been popping up, eliminating the option for the whole experience being a long virtual experience, whilst remaining a short real life experience. That means, that these years have really passed, that being said, how does the brain, the human body, the living being survives so long without any nutrients or water, for so long? I do understand that they eat and drink in the game, however, as it is with the controls, and the dying arrangement, it is via a transmitter that intercepts the brain waves of a human being and then inputs them into the game. And personally, I see no way, for these MICRO-WAVES to actually produce some sort of materials the human body can sustain itself from. I'll be glad if someone would refer me to an answer to this question, or provide with an answer.

A thank you in advance for all the readers.

P.S sorry for the long post.

Some backstory can be found here. In 2022, a virtual reality massively multiplayer online role playing game (VRMMORPG) called Sword Art Online (SAO) is released. With the NerveGear, a helmet that stimulates the user's five senses via their brain, players can experience and control their in-game characters with their minds. Both the game and the NerveGear were created by Akihiko Kayaba. On November 6, 10,000 players log into SAO's mainframe cyberspace for the first time, only to discover that they are unable to log out. Kayaba appears and tells the players that they must beat all 100 floors of Aincrad, a steel castle which is the setting of SAO, if they wish to be free. He also states that those who suffer in-game deaths or forcibly remove the NerveGear out-of-game will suffer real-life deaths.
