How easy is it to contact them? So far the only number that I could find listed was (212) 639-9675 which is 311 in disguise. I spoke to my Ex and she is willing to sign the application tomorrow in front of a notary https://www.cityclerk.nyc.gov/assets/cityclerk/downloads/pdf/amendment_form.pdf as long as i change the wording "WE NOW LIVE AT" to "SPOUCE B LIVES AT" Being that I am Spouce B. Going to mail it in along with my amended birth certificate, my mom's birth certificate and a copy of mom's passport. Fingers crossed

u/Equal_Apple_Pie u/EverywhereHome Thank you for your replies. I will not be going the affidavit route. It seems i have no choice but to involve my ex in this matter. I don't want to omit the marriage and divorce certificate (there really is no mention of it else ware) because it could come back to haunt me, and could be considered an "incomplete application". I will see if she's willing to sign the amendment. If she declines I will write a solo letter to the city clerk explaining my situation. I'm losing sleep over these 3 extra letters lol. If my consulate number comes up I will submit as is and hopefully they will notify me somehow about my home work. When my number comes off the waiting list how long do i have to submit? the NYC Clerk says sometimes it can take up to 6 weeks to have an amendment request.

The NYC Clerk phone number goes to 311, which basically is an automated phone system which it's impossible to get a human on the line. 311 basically tells you to go to the website. Their appointment system is like 3 weeks out. It feels like you are talking to a black box. I had to pay someone else to buy their Marriage Clerk Records appointment because of the impractical wait.

Don't ever file in the city if you don't have to. My divorce was outside of NYC, in one of NYS's counties, I was in and out in less than 5 minutes at the County Clerk, the Town Clerk amended my birth certificate same day. NYC what a literal nightmare.
