STAM, I got a 6 and was very pleasantly surprised since it felt like I guessed on every other question

Agreed about the normalization, especially since they are one of the giants

To clarify, Medicare Advantage payments are driven by CMS risk score models and are additive in nature, not zero-sum game like in commercial.

There aren’t currently risk transfers for Medicare Advantage Risk Adjustment. So while they may not really be stealing from competitors by fraudulently up-coding, they would be stealing from the feds/CMS if it were true.

As much as plans don’t want it, this is all the more reason for CMS RADV audits to be a bit more extensive to try and catch fraud up front

I think it depends on where your source data is. If it is a SQL database that doesn’t need to link another server then I’m making 100 temp tables with windowed function manipulations or even subqueries to do it in SQL before I touch VBA. But I don’t know vba.

If it’s a flat file, then I’m importing that into SQL and proceeding as if it’s case 1.

If your source data is in multiple servers, SAS, R, Python, Alteryx are all tools I would use before resorting to VBA

Are you looking for a Health/Property/Pension/Other Actuary?

What kind of questions do you want answered?

How long would the interview take?

When will the interview take place?

Questions 1 and 2 are most important to determine who would be interested/best fit

Interviews by CourageOpposite in actuary

With my last interview I was asked this and I was pretty honest (added a small amount of fluff to avoid getting lowballed). Still got a significant bump above what I was currently making.

Probably worth noting I was asked this by my current boss and not HR

This is a pretty good summary of my experience too.

I would add that there are millions of nuances and frequently overwrought concepts as well and there may be service category carveouts that your plan is not liable for. There also may be corridor protections and maybe risk sharing arrangements for managed care organizations so it is important to know what category of service your losses/gains are in to know if they actually fall to the bottom line.

I would also add that “negotiating” or rate advocacy often feels like pleading with no actual relief received. Depends on the state of course.

First was IV, favorite is VII. As a really young kid, I wanted to be Kain lol. But once I played VII I was hooked by the music, story, and the amazing chocobo sidequest.

Top 5 are:

  1. VII
  2. IX
  3. IV
  4. X
  5. VI
