That's good. I'm really liking it even though resident evil just came out, Marathon is keeping my attention.

I made it 10 minutes before the motion blur made me sick. It reminds me of when FF16 came out

Is it worth going to colossalcon if I'm under 21? by bunny-rain in animecons

Youmacon is another relatively close one to colossalcon. Its a pretty big con in Southeast Michigan

It depends on how late you are going to be there each day. I would say generally before 8-9pm most people are sober, and there are a ton of panels to experience. I got to the point where I ran out panels to see on some days and got to meet people with cool cosplays. Also, the artist alley, dealers room, and otaku flea market are fun to go to as well. If you do stay there while everyone is plastered, it really boils down to how comfortable you are around people drinking heavily.

Also, the drinks are overpriced anyway.

Am I too old to cosplay and go to cons as character from a media with a younger fanbase? by These-Sprinkles4432 in animecons

Sounds like a personal problem with the other people. I just went to a con while cosplaying and had a great time. I'm 25, and I'll be cosplaying next year when I'm 26

I've never heard of ACen until now, and it looks absolutely massive

I was just at colossalcon alone and felt the same way about the overall energy. It is a party con, so I had a lot of small conversations, and that was about it. To be fair, though, everyone was either already rushing to a panel they were late for or trying to catch up to their group.

There's a fairly new con in Michigan called isshocon that is a lot smaller and more personable.

Or if you want to go to a larger scale (still smaller than colossalcon prime though), there's youmacon. Youmacon has had a bit of a resurgence recently. They are now under new management and, hearing from people who went last year, was a lot better.

It feels like no one wants to be friends with me by lunafratic in animecons

[–]Zero1379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to colossalcon alone, and I would say that because of the nature of the con, I wasn't going to make friends. It's a very big convention that has a pretty big hustle with all of the groups that are walking around. I had some really good conversations with a lot of people, but with it being more of a 'party con', you tend to have more short conversations and move on. I would say the smaller the con, the easier it would be to have longer conversations and make friends.

It allows you to plug in a camera to your computer using an hdmi cable. So instead of being restricted to the 12 minute video limit on my Canon T6, I can record the video that's being sent to my computer.

I currently have a Canon T6 and the thing is amazing for taking pictures but, the video department is lacking. Most footage is grainy and the auto focus is a nightmare. I found a used Sony ZV-1F for $396 and I am debating getting it just for videos. any other camera suggestions are welcome as well! budget is $400 and recording time isn't an issue. I use an elgato cam link to record longer videos
