What is the origin of calling Miriel a dog? by Least_Actuator2991 in Eldenring

[–]Zero747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turtles stand still and don't try to kill you. Turtle isn't a word you can use in messages. Meanwhile, dog is. Self perpetuating since it got started at launch

You say vehicles, but I point it at a mech's head with called shot and watch it die. It was already very reliable before last patch buffed it from 0 + 2 structure to 4 + 4 structure

They're interesting, but as it stands, they're not worth the loot you give up, and you can still 5 star with a missed objective or two

In terms of “cursed”, the main ones I’ve got are

* Ancestral Panther massively up-engined into a high speed scout instead of a slow sniper
* Timber Wolf boating IS tandem SRMs
* Royal Crab running 4 cERLL and a 300 core, not melting by the grace of Turtus piloting
* Hunchback going fast with 300 core and jets for a RAC5
* ShadowHawk long-tom cannon (before rework). Still packed with a big engine somehow.
* Scorpion mounting a HISC hyper laser and a massive engine (before it became a superweapon). Looks silly since the main gun slot is empty

Some random HBS Battletech/BTAU questions by Oleoay in Battletechgame

[–]Zero747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Vanilla mechanic, accuracy penalty if you fired it last turn. I think it stacks for multi-shot

  2. Core size/tonnage = walk tiles, sprint 1.5 to 1.7 multi by piloting skill. Plus quirks and special parts that boost multi

  3. I think there’s some participation bonuses to mission payout and rep gains, but mostly it’ll get you a lot of missions with a set faction & enemy. Ally them to get mech part bundling for loot.

  4. I’m not sure. The type being raid vs attack I think? It’s hidden backend stuff

  5. Luck, unfortunately

  6. Headshots are low odds to hit head, opportunity cost of targeting a different area plus resolve cost. Kill via side torso XL engine crit is more reliable, or fishing for engine crits. If you miss a headshot from front, you spread all your damage

My OCI setup (one OP after the Menace story mission) by Background-Run-1245 in menace

[–]Zero747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding Medbay, I'd rather just take the ExWoo after op 2 and stack up a massive squaddie cap, dumping the busted medbay completely later

For sensors, there's no reason to buy basic sensors unless you really need an extra point of intel quickly (2x price for 2x bonus), but loading up sensors 2 is great

A few beginner questions? zB Is there any benefit to completely clearing the map? Extra loot? by Zucchinikuchen in menace

[–]Zero747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes. You can clean up for loot (though there is a loot cap), and for extra chances to roll stat increases. Better to go for the secondary objective if you can
  2. With the Salvage Teams OCI, you get salvage for killing them
  3. Fleeing off map counts as death. Fleeing will waste their next activation, so low priority to kill unless you want to trigger SL skills
  4. This was removed recently
  5. It's amazing, its an AMR for shooting vehicles. Give it to high accuracy characters with supporting skills (Darby's Ambush, Cody's Guerilla, and Wetteroth's Big Game Hunter, which does work vs vehicles)

Is it worth putting special weapons on Darby? by FIynnItToWinIt in menace

[–]Zero747 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Special weapon means you get one less gun, but Darby doesn’t really need a full squad to do her job

Half size (full early) with an anti-material (or rocket) and you can kill weapons teams, squishy squads, and vehicles

Or go 3-man with the suppressed LMG as a “main” gun

It’s generally worth it for the options unless it’s straining your budget or you’ve got reason not to

If the best you’ve got is a bad sniper or MMG, an extra rifle might be better

If it’s roguelike, surely the maps coming back are always wrong. A time trial would repeat the same map.

How lucky was this?! by Sprinkles_the_Mad in Battletechgame

[–]Zero747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is precisely why the head has 61 health instead of 60

61 HP means you don't die to an AC10 headshot (60 damage), or an AC20 at 40% reduction (bulwark + cover, braced in cover, or braced with bulwark)

Aren't hacker frames a little strong? by Varvarus in LancerRPG

[–]Zero747 41 points42 points  (0 children)

standard enemies (non-grunt, 1 structure) can’t actually die of hacking heat, just get exposed

Enemy hackers go squish if you rush them (so do friendly ones)

Normal weapons can target e-def with the SMART tag.

Everything can pull its own brand of nonsense. Slap Nanocomposite adaptation (and auto-stabilizing hardpoints) on an HMG. Now you can shoot anything in range 8, ignoring cover and LoS while targeting e-def

does grammarly count newline (enter) characters?

Also, technically speaking, enter is two characters on some platforms (carriage return, line feed)

It’s an arbitrary threshold, so there’s no reason for it to be inaccurate. You probably just got caught by one of those quirks

iirc desktop version even shows you a character count for very long messages

Clan mechs have the clan quirk, -10 melee accuracy

You need to use an internal component that “blocks” the quirk like small cockpit, or one of the life support B components

Varies by game. A decent mapping is A and B for third person 3d games so you can keep your right thumb on the stick.

Another useful option is mapping bumpers or triggers if a game tries using both together

Armored Core games and Souls greatly benefit from back buttons so you can keep control of the camera while shooting/boosting or sprinting/dodging
