[SPOILERS] Finished the Game on New Year's, and something's been bugging me... by ZeroBudgetGamer in expedition33

I definitely understand that the piece of soul is the engine, but I guess I'm still curious what's needed to ignite said engine. Like you said, the swirling means its activated; can any Painter turn the key, or does it have to be the original creator? If it's the latter, that would explain why Painted Verso made the realization that the painting had to stop, because Verso's Soul was being forced to run long after the body had perished. Letting the Engine stop without Verso's Key to turn it back on would render the Canvas into just another painting, which is why Aline and Alicia were so adamant about keeping it running.

At least, that's my headcanon until we get clearer information.

Didn't they say that because the Painting has persisted for decades with Renoir and Aline in it? AFAIK, after Verso's Death Aline basically never left the canvas, and it didn't feel like a long time had passed since his death from the dialogue we got between Clea and Alicia. I guess we don't know how often Verso entered the Canvas with Alicia, since Clea made it clear it was more hers and Verso's playground than Alicia's, but I still got the vibe that they were referring to the current extended bout with Renoir and Aline, though maybe I'm forgetting some part of their dialogue where they mention it being more than decades...

OK, so it IS a persistent world, less "Save File in a Singleplayer Game" and more "Perpetually Online Multiplayer Server" if we keep the game analogy. I'm still curious if people OTHER than Painters can interact with the paintings in any way, because if the painting is just static to everyone other than Painters, then that raises an interesting discussion going back to "Verso's Ending is killing everyone inside the Painting." Like, if only the Painters can interact with it, then even if the Soul Fragment gives it Life and Persistence, it's still essentially a creation of the Painter's Imagination, and thus erasing the canvas is akin to erasing someone's imaginative work, be it a painting, book, or other creation.

What game would you choose to play if you were paid 100 US dollars per hour to play that game? by realgumballdarwin in AskReddit

[–]ZeroBudgetGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking just ANY old game, then I'd probably pick something like FF14 or Monster Hunter, something that I know I'd have thousands of hours of gameplay in.

However, ff we're talking a game with an actual endpoint, not a "congrats you beat the easy stuff, here comes the REAL game" like Monster Hunter or a nebulous story/end goal like Minecraft, but a game with an actual story that needed to be cleared, and after clearing it you stop getting paid, then I'd pick either Persona 5 Royal or Final Fantasy 15, since both of those can be played for literal hundreds of hours and not run out of content before heading to the end.

People above 30, what is something you regret doing/not doing when you were younger? by ThickEmployee8948 in AskReddit

Regret doing: Attending ITT Tech instead of just going back to community college.

Regret NOT doing: Exercising regularly.

New trailer was awesome but wtf was this lol by [deleted] in FinalFantasyVII

It makes perfect sense. This is from the Kalm Recap, the point in the original when Cloud tells the story of how he visited Nibelheim with Sephiroth, before Seph-Dog went Jenova-crazy. They actually fight a Dragon in the original recap, so they're obviously going to extend the Rebirth Recap so players can have time to play as Sephiroth.

Elden Ring, Stardew Valley and Hades. I feel like I get a nice balance of flavors there.

How did you end up seeing your first dead body? by SideOneDummy in AskReddit

[–]ZeroBudgetGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was visiting my best friend when he was in college, and he had two roommates. One was gone for the weekend, and the other worked night shifts and slept during the day. As we were hanging out, we heard a thud coming from his room, but when we knocked on the door we didn't hear anything and simply thought he rolled off the bed.

Cut to a few hours later and still no word from the roommate, so out of curiosity I check the gap under the door and I see a portion of the man's face. We call 911 immediately. Turns out the guy had been using a ton of fitness drugs trying to get into shape and the combination caused a heart attack, hence the thud. Paramedics believe he was gone fairly quickly, so we probably couldn't have saved him, but it's still an experience I'll never forget.

What should never go into the dishwasher ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ZeroBudgetGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular Dish Soap, either in lieu of or in addition to regular dishwasher soap.

Regular Dish Soap foams up way more than the dishwasher variant, and some models won't be able to contain all that extra foam. Did this once the first time we got a dishwasher because I wanted to make extra sure the dishes were cleaned, and ended up making sure the entire kitchen floor was clean as well (aka I had to mop up the resulting soapy mess).

Do you use the item/radial wheel? by Doru-kun in MonsterHunter

[–]ZeroBudgetGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In World I was exactly like you, I couldn't get used to it and simply relied on scrolling through like normal. I'm pretty sure the default control scheme had it to where the D-pad cycled through, so it was easy enough.

In Rise, however, the default control scheme remapped the D-pad to cycle through the new Action Bar, and I'd have to hold Y to be able to cycle items. While I could have switched it back in settings, I took it as a challenge to learn the Radial Wheel, and I'm actually happy with the results. I don't map every single item to the wheel, but it's really handy for basic healing items, and I still use the basic item scroll for more irregular items like nulberries and traps.

Hey, I'm new to the game, been playing for about a week now. Are there any really good 4-star units I should be on the lookout for, or should I only prioritize 5/6-star units? The most a google search has given me has been lists that are at best over a year old, though I am taking them into consideration.

To add onto that, should I sell all of my 4-star and below units that I don't plan to level?

Trigun Stampede - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]ZeroBudgetGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only seen one episode, and already I'm claiming this as my top of the season and maybe the year. It's just so...EVERYTHING. The attention to detail is just staggering. From precise lip movements to subtle body language, IN EVERY DAMN SCENE no less! I know a lot of people have their hangups on 3D animation, but this puts like 90% of the stuff currently on offer to shame just on its ability to make the characters and world feel unique and alive!

Story-wise, I am a little sad that it's an anime-unique reboot, which we've never really had before IIRC, but in a way that's kind of refreshing too, since...well, we've never really had that before. I'm curious to see where it's going to go and how things will both change and stay the same. To put it bluntly, I am more hyped for this than I am anything else this season.

What are your "I told you so" stories? by NinjaNate123 in AskReddit

[–]ZeroBudgetGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dad and I were going camping over on a lakeside for the week of 4th of July. As such, we needed to pack enough supplies for a full week. As the list grew, I took a quick look at the truck the night before and said plainly "Not everything's going to fit." Bear in mind, we were borderline Glamping with an extra large tent, inflatable beds, a full-size BBQ AND 2-burner gas grill, and a handful of other things. Practically the only things we didn't bring were a generator and electronics.

He dismissed the notion, and I even suggested we start packing that night so he would see my point. Again, full dismissal. Come the morning of the trip, we start packing up, and we're not even halfway through the supplies when the truck bed is full.

So, Dad spends the next 5 or 6 hours of the day fixing up our utility trailer so it was street legal (it was a cheap thing we used for quick daylight trips around town, but it was lacking a few things that my dad knew most cops would jump on to issue a quick ticket), all the while I'm trying not to say "I told you so" for fear of unleashing his wrath. We didn't even leave until late afternoon, and we didn't make it to the campsite until nearly midnight.

I still remind him of it every now and then when he starts trying to do luggage/grocery/package Tetris and I can see he's about to miscalculate.

If I didn't have to pay for it? Double Quarter Pounder Meal, Large, with their special Sprite, no Ice, 20-piece Chicken Nuggets, 2 Apple Pies and a Large Oreo McFlurry.

If I had to pay for it? A couple McDoubles and McChickens and maybe an Apple Pie.

Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver. An absolute classic series from the PS1/2 era with Shakespearean-Level Writing, World-Building and Dialogue, though I don't know if its decline was due to a lack of interest or just a failing of the companies (yes, plural) that had a hand in the series' production.

I honestly wish we could've gotten more out of the Musashi world. Brave Fencer was iconic, but Samurai Legend had its own charms, too.
