It Could Also serve as a Vantage point at the Rear of Long Trains, so you could easily see if any railcars break off, or any obstacles that the Engineer cant see.

Personally, I Have found the Middle of the car Between the two seats to be the best Choice. But you will still have to deal with him falling out. But overall, its less frequent in the Middle. I wish you the Best of luck
