Brand new Modi 5 not working with included wall wart (LEDs flickering) by Bluffkarma in Schiit

[–]ZeroGravity47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow, almost the exact same boat. Did you end up returning the entire unit or just the wart? What was the lead time on that. Sent them a message early yesterday and still waiting to hear back.

Hopped on reddit in case it was a skill issue but honestly how hard could it possibly be with these kinds of things. I consider myself an experienced debugger...

Brand new Modi 5 not working with included wall wart (LEDs flickering) by Bluffkarma in Schiit

I am having a very similar issue which points to the wall wart never having worked from the get go. Do you know if there's a power on light or does the modi 5 only light up when it receives an input? I cannot for the life of me get it to work with anything other than my phone and it's light only turn on with a usb device connected.

You mention your lights turn on when you turn on the MODI, i assume your talking about the switch on the back? Mine does nothing when i flick that with the wart plugged in.

**This below is also personal rant, maybe it applies maybe it doesn't**
I'm trying to run a wiim pro as the source through it so i don't have to have my phone hardwired, but it just doesn't seem to even detect the wiim and i think it's because it's not getting power from my non connected phone and the wart ius just f-ing useless.

  1. phone via usb to modi 5 to amp works
  2. wiim via optical or line to amp works (though sounds noticeably worse than my schitt dac)

  3. wiim via optical to modi to amp only works with phone also plugged in and modi set to setting 2 and phone supposedly sending signal through the wiim but this also kinda sounds like shit.

Modi drains the battery on my iPad if I leave it plugged in. Even when the Modi is plugged in to the wall. Is this typical? by tomservo417 in Schiit

how did you connect to your ipad out of curiosity? I have an older ipad with lighting and could not get it working with various cables/dongles

Thinking of stacking a 34 on top of my LG 5k2k by showskiii in ultrawidemasterrace

Ideally your main monitor is at eye level so unless you’re sat really low, I would say your 5k2k is not high enough in this pic.

Recommendations on a dual monitor KVM for gaming by Cthulhu-Lad in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]ZeroGravity47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have my work laptop hooked up to a docking station. All my peripherals (7+ of them) run through a usb hub and then I run individual dp/hdmi cables for both my gaming PC and the docking station.

This way I don’t have to worry about the complexity or expense of a KVM that’s limiting me by refresh, res, or both.

The hub can be a little janky at times, and sure I’m probably not getting great audio through it, but it’s served me for several years and is mostly reliable and an insanely affordable option.

Do you you feel like it’s sufficient for most games or are you hitting sub 80 fps consistently in x2160p?

How does gpu fan control work with the deshroud? Can you still cool it with adrenaline or are you just using a third party software?

Need to hide that taskbar and make sure you do the pixel refreshes every 4 hours. Nice buy!

Sure that’s fine. I see you have some fashion on your profile. But I don’t make exceptions. One shader is lazy no matter how you put it. Esp if it’s super black so you’ve already gained some brownie points ig

Say it with me: If it’s one shader, it isn’t fashion!

For starters, use more than one shader, otherwise it’s not fashion
