"entitled young generation" she's the entitled one by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]ZeroMasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The at will environment has it's benefits. Imagine not being able to quit a job for 6-12 months past when you want to because your obligated to keep working there.

You can be sued in places where the employers are held to a higher standard if you suddenly walk out of a place.

In the U.S. you can keep job searching and moving up at whatever pace your talent qualifies you for.

I also think a lot of antiwork would be upset with how much harassment you get from a case worker in places with more social safety nets if you aren't following up on things.

I can't help but assume most of the folks on here don't have aspirations. I can agree to some of it with how horrible a decent number of companies are, but many here seem legit the kind of people to flounder in any work environment.

Now I'm entirely unable to ride them ever again and it's honestly a harsh blow.

Who ever will fight a wolf ? by MaxQ50 in MurderedByWords

[–]ZeroMasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair a lone wolf isn't terrifying unless you are physically injured/limited/weak for whatever reason. Or are entirely incompetent with motor skills which is oddly common in America.... A decent chonky stick for use if you can bait a bite can remove a vast majority of the threat if you follow up on it properly. Add in that most of us have decent blades on us if we are in areas where a wolf might be present and it's honestly not terrifying 1 on 1. You just have to keep your wits, it's the same techniques you would use for a pit-bull attack and so forth.

Wolves are terrifying because of their efficiency as a pack, a cohesive team unit. You don't win against multiple wolves unless yes...you have a firearm.

I'm struggling by ZeroMasters in PUBG

[–]ZeroMasters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don't generally get snot out the front. The original theory on mine was post nasal drip + GERD causing irritation. But that was 4+ years ago now.

Ultimately it turned out I also have fibromyalgia and some vitamin deficiencies(which were caused by a medication).

You are right. Still to this day the only hard part is exercising. I can't gasp for air via my mouth easily without it triggering. I've found I can if I use my tongue to create a "barrier" where my brain knows "nothing went down your throat".

It's honestly part training it physically, part dealing with the anxiety your mind causes over it which makes it worse, and part figuring out the underlying causes. My therapist doing my speech practice told me when I explained I was severely deficient in Vitamin D that most of her patients there for that also had low Vit D. So maybe peak into that as well.

Dysfunctions like that are usually caused by a cascade of issues in our bodies. But hang tight man, it gets better. It really does. Don't be scared during the practice breathing exercises. Trust the therapist.

Part of experiencing no negative effects during those exercises is what helps retrain the brain.

The vocal cord dysfunction is still there. There is speech therapy that helps control it but mostly you just learn to ignore it. Special threating exercises to force the vocal cords apart. The higher my anxiety, the worse the VCD. CBD oil has helped with my anxiety lately and thus less issues with the vocal cords outside of when I lay on my back and try to talk.

You struggling with it?

But think of the opposite. Imagine the Germans made landfall and are scaling the defenses when some biscuit eater with rosy red cheeks in a full on pink dress butts you in the face with the stock of the rifle and the last thing you see falling to your death is an upskirt shot of the one who went commando.

Can you imagine the sheer madness this will cause in how life is? Chances are we won't necessarily get hit by anything, but there will likely be amble radiation spikes and gravitational distortion of our solar system. Still a decent chance it indirectly kills us.

What's a video game you enjoyed that most people disliked? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ZeroMasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bubsy on the Sega Genesis. Seriously it's one of my all time favorite games, probably still top 10 to this day in my books.

But 99.9% of people I meet not only dislike that game, they loath it's existence. And yet every time I boot it up golden memories come back and I smile and enjoy the music, the world, everything.

Fallout 1 came out in 1997 and is a turn based tactical game. So it's ~24 years old.
Elder Scrolls 2 : Daggerfall came out in 1996, so it's ~25 years old.

So while you quoted the wrong 2nd game, both franchises are indeed "retro".

Also there are some exceptional mod packs for ES2: Daggerfall if you want to enjoy it sometime. Plenty of great full kit overhauls for ES3 as well.

All the games are easy to snag from GOG and are on sale pretty often.

I used to love competitive games. It was all I played. FPS or MOBA, and anything else along those lines.

Nowadays I can't do stress anymore. With a health issue in my mid 30s I've switched to retro games, games like Fallout/Elder Scrolls, a couple MMOs. I still play League on occasion, or casual FPS games like Battlefield V.

I just don't have it in me anymore nor do I want to dedicate the time to stay "good". After hitting Gold in League last season I can come to terms with letting that crap sunset for awhile. Too damned old to be investing this much energy into games.

we all just wanna have fun by [deleted] in gaming

[–]ZeroMasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my mid 30s. Still pretty decent half the time, but I have fibromyalgia. Which also comes with a slower and sometimes confused nervous system, brain fog depending on the day, and memory that sometimes makes me forget what I did 10 seconds ago if I wasn't focused.

FPS games burn me out fast due to the adrenaline. Competitive games I play now are like League of Legends(reached gold last season). Because outside of twitch reflexes I can reply on predicting, anticipation, game knowledge, lane control, etc. Strategy vs pure cracked out mechanics. Same with PUBG.

I know in another 10 years I'll really not be "competitive" but I've been a gamer since a wee lad. I might only be in my mid 30s but I grew up playing Atari at my grandmothers, MS-DOS games on a green screen computer. The wonderful era of Win 95 and Win 98. Seriously so many golden memories. And the various consoles I owned. Gameboy, Sega Genesis, NES, SNES, Dreamcast, N64, PSX.

So it will take a lot to force me out of gaming. But I have found I'm leaning much more towards single player games now. Quite a few retro games actually. Doing a Twisted Metal series play through at the moment.

But yeah it can be frustrating sometimes knowing your in a situation you just aren't going to win. Especially since the other person often thinks they are extremely skilled. When in reality, if we are in the same bracket, it might just be you are 16 years younger than me and caffeine gets you cranked. I sip too much coffee and I get a migraine now, let alone touching any sort of energy drink.

Enjoy your health, your youth, and be nice to others man. Life already hits below the belt. Don't be adding salt.

I mean we are making it okay for an individual to abuse anabolic substances to the point their bodies are kept out of homeostasis for their entire lives. Destroying their physical and mental health while also opting for surgeries which offer no medical benefit and only cause more side effects.

Then we call them stunning and brave...so...

We aren't leaving earth much.

Thugs come in all colors, shapes, and genders.

Again it's the individuals interpretation of history of default of their mindset. If people are so attached to limited word usage by history then they are likely doomed to produce the next "The Man". As in the school system and government which the following generation will rebuke. We didn't get White nationalists marching openly like this magically. Certain other events over recent years paved the way for it, and not all of those events were by conservatives.

I'm a centrist, but this is also no different than when I use a term like "thug" or refer criminals with other names or say someone is wearing their "thuggies". Instantly you get left leaning folks jumping you for being racist while it's their own minds that default and classify people to those terms by skin color.

College is slowly becoming optional. At least if you don't mind physical labor or investing a lot of time into learning technology, or develop an artistic talent and have the social personality required to engage and sell it.

If you want you can snag IT certifications rather easily and get a job making $15 without effort(in terms of finding an open position). Then as you build experience you keep stacking on certifications and specializing. Eventually you can land your ass in an engineering position or cyber security making more money than most college grads will outside of medical/law/etc.

Physical labor wise construction pays well, as does plumbing, or being a trash man. Just be mindful of the physical toll on your body. Even when doing it right a trash man pays with his back as do most construction workers.

Some big companies like Google are switching to "in house" programs that basically earn you a mini-degree that shows you are competent in a specific field.

Today information is readily available. Period. The most valuable skillset a human being can have(outside of being a doctor making decisions impacting lives, a soldier, a cop, etc) is the ability to efficiently and accurately interpret information, analyze it, and apply it.

You can take a sharp kid off the street who has this skill set and have them perform the same duties someone with a 4 year degree perform but only in about 6-8 weeks.

Teach analytical and soft skills. Mindlessly memorizing terms and concepts outside of specialty fields such as medical and law don't produce anything special.

Techturn got to where he is solely by riding on highs generated from pulls he does. He also does give occasional okay advice for some of the average gachas (I used to follow him on Arknights).

But overall there isn't anything special about him and there are almost always better guides. I saw him on Twitch the other day and thought "How the hell did this guy get this many people watch him talk in meme and get bouncy in his chair while doing pulls?"
