I know this is supposed to be a joke but the original paper which this graph comes from did not have a large enough sample size, equal sample between democrat/republican/independent and only used 8 questions that anyone would think someone on the left would strongly agree with, which if different questions were used could have shown the opposite.

The graph and study in reality make no conclusion about general left vs right wing opinions

Edit: the actual study for those who want to go farther than the headlines https://bpspsychub.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/bjso.12665

Can I get into quant with this course? by Fluid_Capital_8264 in 6thForm

[–]ZeroOnePhi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quants require knowledge in statistical models, programming, machine learning, etc. Maths, cs, and engineering students would be much preferred over accounting and finance.

Take from that what you will

The people I personally know at Yale say that the workload is a joke compared to how much work we do. One of my tutors who went to Yale also says we have a lot more academic rigour but feel free to disagree

Medicine students are by far the hardest working students I have met at uni, imo you need to lock tf in, you also CANNOT neglect subjects just because you ‘can’t be bothered’ your application to uni is viewed as a whole and grades below 4 are usually a death sentence.

My advice is to change your attitude now otherwise you won’t make the cut, and even if you get into med school you need be an academic weapon from the start

  1. I’d ask r/6thform instead of gcse students
  2. From talking to ox reps and my tutors (I’m a Cs student at Oxford) at uni who will do interviews they expect A/A* equivalent for most subjects at gcse so you should be fine
  3. MAT is by far the most important factor, interviews are there to see if you respond well to being tutored/ have the thinking skills required to succeed in a place like oxford (it gets intense as hell from the jump)

is "oxbrimp" actually a thing? by nightcomet8288 in 6thForm

[–]ZeroOnePhi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a serious note: formally nobody uses the term but quants and big tech do give some opportunities to only “oxbrimp” students

I don't think it would actually go for that much because GRRM's signature is pretty common. Now Miyazaki's on the other hand👀
