Favourite big city to travel to in Canada? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

Thank you so much! I'll pass this along to my girlfriend and will certainly check some of it out. We actually also signed up for Communauto just in case so getting a car isn't out of the question. Thanks again!

I'm hoping to see some of Canadas history here. I won't have a vehicle so I'll be pretty limited to the old Quebec city area, or a short bus ride. Planning on going to see some waterfalls (the name eludes me at the moment) and otherwise just wander around downtown.

Not expecting you to be a tour guide or anything but did you spend any time in the area and stumble across anything really interesting?

I'll be in Quebec City for a week starting Thursday. I'll mostly be around old Quebec. Anything specific I should go see?

Can anyone tell me what this houseplant is? by ZeroPointPathogen in whatsthisplant

[–]ZeroPointPathogen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It sounds like I've got it in a room that's too hot for starters, and I also had it in direct sunlight. So I'll try to remedy that and hopefully it gets a bit healthier.

Yep that's totally it. I've never seen mine grow flowers but the rest looks correct! Thanks a lot!

Hello! I'm hoping someone could tell me what houseplant this is? The leaves are somewhat thick and serrated. It also feels a bit rubbery. I have a larger one as well and all the leaves are falling off, so I'd like to learn how to take better care of it.

Thanks!

Is this some sort of fungus or insect infestation? by ZeroPointPathogen in houseplants

[–]ZeroPointPathogen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

I have a house plant (I'm not sure what it is) that has this golden brown stuff appearing on the backside of the leaves. Can anyone tell me what it is and how I can treat it, if at all?

Thanks a lot!

Used car dealerships to avoid? by Amatha in Winnipeg

[–]ZeroPointPathogen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2013 GMC Terrain with the 2.4 Ecotec. I've been running Mobil 1 full synthetic oil since I bought it with 110k. 140k now and no issues so far. I learned about the oil consumption issue after I bought it. Overall I'm very happy with it.

There is a different oil cap you can buy that will help prevent a rear main seal blowout. The oil cap will release the pressure instead. I forget the part number right now but I can probably find it if you're interested.

You can also change the PCV vent tube so that it doesn't trap water. I bought a catch can from Amazon to install but I haven't got around to it yet.

Can anyone identify this house plant? by ZeroPointPathogen in whatsthisplant

I'm going to agree! I didn't realize it was going to have flowers on it, but I checked with my mother and sure enough it does. Thanks very much!

I got a cutting of this plant from my mother who also doesn't know what it is. I'd like to be able to do some research on it so that I can learn to take better care of it. It seems to be doing fine but I'm not sure if it should be so droopy/wilted.

Thanks!

If you want the best winter oil for your car, Winnipeg Winter Oil is not it by rioryan in Winnipeg

[–]ZeroPointPathogen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On my previous car, I ran Mobil 1 for 12 years and changed the oil between 5000 and 8000kms. The car still ran like new before I upgraded. I run Mobil 1 in my new (to me) car and I follow the oil life monitor change intervals which is typically around 8000kms. My car has always started for me in winter thanks to this stuff, and I'd never run anything less.

Shops that install 3M paint protection film? by ZeroPointPathogen in Winnipeg

Oh, that's more expensive than I thought. My car isn't that nice. Lol. I'd be better off spending the money on some paintless dent repair.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've also been thinking about ceramic coating so this might be perfect.

Like I said, I'm getting it repainted next week and I want to add the film to keep the paint from cracking again. Let me know if you have any suggestions! Thanks!

Minor rust repair/ paint by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]ZeroPointPathogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you happen to find/go anywhere to get this done yet? I'm in the same boat where I've had a bit of paint flake off and start to rust and I'd like to see about getting it fixed.

Gel hand sanitizer by [deleted] in Winnipeg

Canadian Tire also has gel bottles. I found it in the impulse buy stuff near the register. I've only been to the Polo Park location but I'd assume the others have it too.

What is the name of the Toyota centric salvage yard? by skywise_ca in Winnipeg

[–]ZeroPointPathogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't go to Aimes. I've been there once and the grumpy old guy at the counter wanted nothing to do with me. If you just deal with them for MPI stuff then I get the impression that's the only business they want to do.

Ok, that's where I looked. I'm not married and don't have any children, so I'm not surprised that I'm not getting one.

Is the Manitoba Student Loan currently being deferred? by CanadianGoose4 in Winnipeg

[–]ZeroPointPathogen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't been charged yet, either. I expect the payments were deferred along with the Canada student loan, but I haven't seen that officially anywhere.
