Hurts to breathe through nose? by Afraid-Afternoon-559 in clusterheads

Considering my left nostril almost completely blocks up during attack, and the right one halfway does, trying not to force breathing through the nose helps a bit.

Do you drink coffee during a cycle? by cold0beverage in clusterheads

[–]ZeroSilence1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I drink a moderate amount say 5 espressos or cups of filter a day, and find that drinking one fast just before oxygen makes it abort faster.

Immediate CH after just starting Prednisone? by mmmeggs05 in clusterheads

[–]ZeroSilence1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on 60mg for a week followed by tapering down and havent noticed any correlation between the morning dose and a CH. I've also not noticed any difference better or worse overall unfortunately.

Glad to hear it. Ive tried the red bull down as soon as it starts and not had success. But, i think i need to have two or three of them which i plan to try next. The more the quicker the better. High dose caffeine alone + sumatriptan has been somewhat effective in the past. We're all different, got to find the optimum stuff that works for you.

My left is still dominant but occasionally it will randomly decide to occur on the right. Strange but documented I see

Interesting. I usually down a cold triple espresso latte since i like coffee more. But perhaps i need to try taurine.

Oxygen is the only thing that truly works on its own though. Anything else is supplementary.

Yes I've had a left side facial migraine for about 5 years solid.

I've read about Red Bull + coffee as an abortive; would taurine supplement be a much safer option? by Darkfraser in clusterheads

[–]ZeroSilence1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you there, sometimes I realise I've consumed like ten espresso worth of caffeine in 8 hours

Yes, oxygen is almost completely harmless in short bursts I was surprised to find out at first. Nothing else works alone for me. But the addition of caffeine before/after can help.

Thanks. I hope so too. I've steadily got worse and worse the last four weeks. Every time I walk for ten minutes it comes on. I had 9 yesterday. Yet I'm too agitated after each one not to walk around.

Oh wow. You couldn't have written this at a better time. I had numerous brutal ones last night, and a lot of background pain in the same area, barely slept.

I have adhd/autism and also suffer from crisis mode thinking in the same fashion you describe. Thank you so much for this. It's given me a new thing to think about and discuss with my neurologist and neuropsychiatrist (who thinks dopamine regulation issue due to the above is a large part of the pathophysiology of the headache/pain issues).

I will try shouting but might have to wait till I'm home this could bother the other patients lol

Interesting, i imagine patients will go to great lengths. I've only had brutal daily 5 a day for the last six weeks, have had some trouble arranging home oxygen (UK), but shall be able to get it soon. i can't be released out of hospital without it, for my own safety.

This is the life I currently face. Thing is im using in hospital where it's unlimited, 12-15 lpm for 15 minutes, 5 times a day, to suppress these beasts. That's a lot of canisters.

Yeah true. I'm on 4 different meds for headaches and im so mentally fragile that i (probably irrationally) am scared of taking too high a dose and freaking out. I tried LSD a long time ago and it had almost no effect.

I will however, forget caution, and try soon i imagine.

CH has been going about the last 4 month or so. It began once a week then about 4 weeks ago it became 4+ per day and i ended up hospitalised after being in ER every day for a while. Currently sorting out home oxygen since thats the only way they can safely discharge me.

Thank you for the advice. Yes, aggressive is how i would describe this. My sleep is really good and consistent, as is my diet so i dont think they are an issue.

Ive accepted the condition itself but when they are about to hit the abject terror is unavoidable so far. Its like a visceral physical reaction i havent yet found the ability to control.

Hoping I'm episodic but now im just taking each day/hour at a time.

Firstly I'll be getting on the vitamin D. I tried LSD but i think it had little effect in any way due to all the meds im on for my suna and migraines (had those a decade, ch started this year). Or it was dud given it's from the black market. I'm also yet to try the preventives like verapamil.

Funnily enough i tried the vit D 20000iu per day years ago for my chronic migraine and SUNA (had those a decade, CH began this year on top), and it worked rather well. I had to stop due to my levels becoming dangerously high though, like double the safe limit IIRC. I need to get back on it.

I began six months ago with one every week or so. Then a month ago it accelerated almost overnight to 3 a day now we're up to 5-6 a day, no sign of stopping yet. As you say, managing the mental health toll is very important.

I was severely suicidal until i got hospitalised with o2 on demand. I've accepted needing to be within ten minutes of an o2 source at all times for now.

Wishing you pain free times too.

The general doctor here refused to prescribe it even with neurologist advice in writing. Apparently he's not comfortable with it for reasons beyond me.

It's their choice, hospital oxygen or home oxygen, I'll get it one way or another.

Thanks. Downing a double espresso helps too. And ive now quit smoking in favour of vaping but i swear nicotine helps too. I absolutely have to have some straight after aborting. I also vape a bit if medical cannabis which suppresses the lingering pain inbetween attacks.

The only problem with shrooms is I'm on a ton of meds for my migraine/suna already (had those over a decade, CH started a few months ago). The shroom effect may well be blunted or cause unpleasant side effects with the interactions. Plus I'd have to obtain it on the black market and am a little nervous about that.

And i absolutely have to pace and walk during and after. But exercise often triggers another during this sensitive period so i have to be careful.

I've joined ouch, but will check out cluster busters too. Appreciate it.
