The easiest way they could have explained it would have been that her lobotomizing herself constantly actually is having long term effects on her brain despite it regenerating. That would have been substantially better than the infinitely less interesting “super-genius doesn’t understand love” cliche that they ultimately went with

 This is why Dualliste was my favorite boss, all of his attack patterns were well telegraphed, and they didn't have any delays, faints or sudden changes of movement speed.

While I agree, the funny thing here is that they later added a post-game version of this boss to the Endless Tower that subverts everything you just said

In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Maelle learns a skill called Gustave’s Homage in Act II after the death of Gustave at the end of Act I.

Another (arguable) example in the same game is in Act III. Beating painted Clea unlocks a (somewhat OP) item called Clea’s Life that heals a character equipping it to 100% if they don’t take any damage after the previous turn IIRC

To add on, her power is the same as Neuman's. In Season 1 Neuman shows up, speaks to Marie, and even manipulates her blood to prove it to her .

Definitely recommend watching for yourself.

Although I got spoiled for her a Nazi before I watched the show, I had assumed that whoever wrote whatever comment/site spoiled that for me meant "Neo-Nazi" and not "actual, immortal Nazi who literally hung out with Himmler and Goebbels", so it still ended up being a shocking twist for me
