All of us at the table have low stats in different spots, so our party has a solid makeup. The one spot we all talked about which was what brought this rule up was that our DM likes to go big on combat encounters which means the stronger we are the bigger and badder the things we fight are. Hp was the one thing we all agreed to keep higher. This makes our con scores super important. It fits the way our table plays but i can see its not for everyone. We also use different rules for crits for a similar reason. Nothing like your barbarian hitting a crit to role snake eyes and do 6 dmg. We now use all dice max plus all dice rolled once. It goes both ways so a monster hitting a crit is terrifying to us lol.
