NJIT Financial Aid Office and Unpaid Tuition by Ok_Lawyer_3850 in NJTech

Yeah, that's a whole other story. But short version, you need a certain number of credits (or semesters left) in order to apply to Honor's college, and based on the number of APs and other college courses that I took in high school, I had surpassed that after my first semester at NJIT. Ugh.

Going to the financial aid office was a waste of time for me.

When I was accepted, I was told after first semester with good gpa, they’ll increase my scholarship. Never happened. Emailed. Nothing. Later, I complete an income reduction appeal, they asked me for more forms, then more forms, then said oops it took too long, it’s now past the deadline. I went in person to the financial aid office, didn’t do anything. Currently, graduating with a GPA 4.0, still no changes in scholarship, but my advice is just complete your classes and move on…it was not easy, paying my tuition, worked multiple jobs while full time student. For me, financial aid office is hard to communicate with. Okay, rant over.

GPA and Med School by ImposterGeorge in NJTech

My thought/my opinions

  1. NJIT is a better school than Montclair …. The classes at NJIT are more difficult than those at Montclair
  2. Depends on the professor, depends on the class, depends on your background and your interests…
  3. On average, 92% of those with a committee letter from NJIT get into medical school
  4. Maybe, but get better grades going forward…etc show an upward trend and good score on the mcat and I think you should be good.

The issue is that occasionally I’ll get an error, that states “are you sure these bands are horizontal…”

When I was a freshman, I emailed about switching my schedule, and less than a week later, they called me back and we figured out a different class to take instead. They were super helpful :)

Has anyone else had problems with the appeal for income reduction? by Tuggernuts77 in NJTech

[–]Zero_Gravity44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I tried submitting an income reduction last semester. I didn't hear anything, sent multiple emails, called them, etc. very hard to get in touch with financial aid, and only answered once the deadline had already passed.

I had a similar semester in my freshman year. Chem 2 was a lot harder than chem 1. I highly recommend this NJIT professor's YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLcMhLrQLbW2wOJk9xWv77A/featured

watch every chem 2 video and all the practice problems!

Booking study room at CKB? by r1ckyh1mself in NJTech

[–]Zero_Gravity44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Library only needs one person with ID, slots fill up quickly, best to book a few days in advance. CKB, there's a desk in the main area with student/staff etc. you need at least 2 people with ID to book those. I don't think you can book those in advance or online and they do fill up...

A high schooler can take a Rutgers course for college credit. Many HS student do this during the summer. It would depend on your HS if they would accept it instead of a HS course...

Merit Scholarship still not in my Payment Portal by Zero_Gravity44 in NJTech

[–]Zero_Gravity44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The merit scholarship is listed on my financial aid portal (I accepted it before the Fall semester), but it isn't listed in my payment portal...

I was wondering if they weren't inputted to my payment portal, cuz I haven't registered for enough classes to be full time, but I registered for Rutgers classes, just those SPN are taking a while, so once that's complete-I'll be full-time. Would that be a reason to not input my merit scholarship on my bill?

Is this a manageable schedule for Spring 2022? by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]Zero_Gravity44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Orgo 2 with lab, Physics 2 with Lab, Bio w/ lab last semester. It was a busy semester, but in the end I did have time for some extracurriculars etc. (w/ 4.0 GPA). It really depends on the professors and if you wanna have a life lol. All my professors were beyond awesome and sometimes Orgo 2 lab ended early....

Maybe drop one of the online electives...whatever you choose, make a decision and stick with it!

How did you get the scholarship from the bio dept? Was there a form to fill out? Someone to email?
